I'd try a live battery pull as a possible remedy to all of those issues before a factory data reset.

A live battery pull is merely removing the battery while the phone is up and running.

Leave the battery out and wait for at least a full minute, then put it back in and boot up the device.

Some users will start using the menus or pressing icons for apps as soon as they see the home screen; it is a good idea to wait for all of whatever background apps to finish before doing that (weather updating, calendar, etc).

If your bugs are still there, the factory data reset is the next thing to try before having the account owner exchange it for another device.

Good luck!

i want to but they told me i have to go with the account holder and the prob is that hes always working like hes a truck driver so hes always away.so idk if they are just lyin or something idk

That seems extremely fishy, I'm not the account holder on my plan, and I've taken 3 different phones back to a verizon store for exchange due to being defective. I'd go to a different store in the area if possible.

You can have the account holder call in and add you as an authorized user/contact and have no issues going into the store to exchange it.

Yep, do that (or rather, have him do that). My wife and I had to that on our account. She's the primary account holder because she gets a discount through work, but I am the one that always calls about any problems.

Your phone is acting like mine did just before it developed a dead spot on the screen - I have a refurb now.

You have the trackball issue which is pretty common in the eris for some reason.none of the things the other users have told you will do anything.the easiest way too handle this is to call verizon customer service and explain your situation.they are people to and may empathize with your situation with the account holder and hardware issue.also in the future you could have the account holder call verizon and make you a primary which would allow you to do this without him.

My eris has been very sketchy the last couple of weeks too. It's very frustrating since I've never any issue before (I thought I had "the flawless eris"). Mine jumps to the far left screen and force closes all of time now.

Took it to the store, did factory reset (through privacy setting), and soon after the phone started acting up again. I didn't even get to leave the store parking lot. Went back inside and they ordered me a new phone.

I also notice that my track ball only works moving to the right. Perhaps it has been a track ball issue all along.

Former eris owner here...yeah it's a trackball thing

I think "factory reset" is the first thing everyone(Verizon reps especially)
tell people for every issue lol

But it is not a software thing but a physical issue(your trackball)

I know exactly what you mean

it will move on it's on for no apparent reason....just laying there and it will move

your best bet is to get a refurb...and as stated above have the account holder make you a primary

Im 17 and i can basically do whatever i want since my dad authorized me

I've never been told that when i had my eris replaced twice. Maybe that person needs to make you an authorized user. I think thats the reason why i never had problems because my mom made me an authorized user. im 16 btw.

Try doing the battery pull then try following the instructions in the link Frisco posted. A factory reset pretty much returns it to the state that it was in when you first got it from the store.
