Stock HTC Email Client

I have had issues with the stock email client since i got my desire.
1) the sync peak/offpeak times never worked properly
2) no html email view

I have tried Touchdown and roadsync and have disliked them both for one reason or another

1) they did not sync with the phone's phone book
2) they seemed to drain the battery
3) not proper widgets for emails
4) contacts did not sync with exchange or phone as they had their own DB for contacts
5) too many keypresses to do simple tasks.
6) they both charged $$

If HTC could fix the peak/off peak times then I would be happy
as for html viewer of emails it's not the end of the world (touchdown did it lovely)

So how come I get emails in the middle of the night when the desire is set to off-peak?

Is this for and email account other than googlemail?? If its for the same account then it could be the actual "Google Mail" app thats downloading the emails with push mail?

What is your off peak time set to in send & receive settings ?

You'll find it in set download frequency settings for the mail account.

I have mine set to every 10mins in peak and every hour in off peak.

Point being in off peak it will still sync so that's why you're receiving emails in the middle of the night.

Hi My peak times are 08:00 - 22:00 - push
off peak is manual

emails come through the night!

I factory reset 2 days ago and have installed NOTHING and they came through last night - how very odd that no-one gets this same problem, yet we have 2 desires and they both do the same.

With ref to the html view - you can enable by going into the email client (settings -> Send & Receive -> and change mail size limit to 'None').... assuming your using HTC Mail, as opposed to the default gmail app.

Not sure why yours is greyed out, mine has a choice of HTML or PLAIN TEXT. My schedule is nearly the same as yours, and I also suffer from mail during the night, randomly. The only way to get round this is to turn sync off before going to sleep (via a widget on your home screen) and switch it on again in the morning.

Very Strange! Mine is for the the message itself (and I don't have a 'Headers' option)
My message options are as follows

1kb (text only)
5kb (text only)
25 kb
50kb
100kb
1mb
No Limit

Is your handset carrier branded? I wonder if they have disabled it?

Another option might be K9mail (I haven't used personally, but have heard good things, and it apparently supports HTML).
