If I turn off autosync what will I be missing...will it add that much to battery life?

So was wondering if I shut off autosync what will I be missing??
Automatic e-mail up dates, weather bug widget update???
Anything else?
Also with it off will I get better battery life??
Did the Eris have autosync before 2.1??

It did/does seem to help with battery life for me. You would just have to manually refresh.

I've got lots of automatic stuff turned off to help save on battery.

Yes, autosync was available in 1.5.

I don't mind having to hit the refresh button when I open my mail.
I don't have all the reminders on for that or facebook.... etc.
I don't need to be that plugged in, just having the access to this info in hand is good enough for me.
Will the google calander on the phone NOT sync with my work outlook if the auto sync is off? If so thats a no go for me, I need that to sync, come to think of it I think I set the sync on my desktop in goole sync for the calender right??

I don't believe that it would sync. You would have to do it manually.

Well I believe this would work. Go to your Accounts & Sync settings. You'll see the accounts it syncs with on the bottom. Select each one and uncheck the sync option. But when you get to your Google account, uncheck Gmail and contacts, but NOT calendar.

Ok I think I know what you are getting at
Leave auto sync on,
BUT uncheck everything except calender?
That way it only fires up and syncs calender and nothing else.

Exactly. Only a hunch, but in theory it should work.

yes... do what Demache says...

I left Calendar and Contacts syncing but turned Gmail off... for me I did notice a much better battery life after doing so!
