I'll agree with most of yours, even the cons except I've never had an iPhone so I don't know about the camera.

3. I had a wing, and I'm already used to the different keyboard after only a few weeks.

4. I have a great data connection, check your coverage on the T-Mo website, you may have some holes in your area.

Pro:
Sound quality is great, I love android both in practice and theory.
I live in the greater Los Angeles/Orange County area, so 3g and EDGE coverage is amazing.
Ability to configure all the different services and noises.

Con:
The battery life could be better, they could have made the thing a few mm thicker to get a larger mAH batter would have worked. I wonder if larger capacity batteries will be for sale.

I disagree about the Camera. Are you properly letting it focus by holding the button down a little till the light turns green and it auto focuses the lens? I've been nothing but satisfied with it and how clear of photos it takes, much more so than my brother's iPhone's, which always seems blury and washed out.

Best sound quality on a phone so far. (talking/listening)

The OS is not polished enough, however (some things just do not make sense sometimes). Menus need to be more consistent.

Auto-rotate is a no brainer - should be there.

Software KB - another no brainer.

A flash player would be nice (eventually I am sure, come on adobe).

The hardware KB would have been perfect with domed keys, or less recessed keys. There is definitely room for it with the space between the screen and keyboard plate.

Anyone else having issues with the GPS just PLAIN not working?

Should have come with more space for installing apps - I think I have 6 or less, and I get the "disk space low" alert. That is a sad state of affairs. SD storage for apps would be a nice solution.

Separate alerts/settings for each communication type - email, SMS, IM, MMS, Gmail, etc. It just makes sense.

Illuminating trackball for alerts.

Multiple non-answer alerts. Again, it just makes sense.

Pros:
1. Great mobile multi-tasking device
2. A lot of apps offer full desktop experience and not watered down mobile version
3. Google maps with Streetview and Compass mode
4. Gmail and Calendar auto syncs online and handset, not need to plug into pc for syncing
5. Its cool factor

Cons:
1. POP3 inboxes mysteriously disappears when I created more than 3.
2. POP3 boxes don't alert nor vibrate when an email comes in
3. No on-screen keyboard
4. No stock video player, only 1 available in Android market and its lacking many features
5. 1 GB default storage card

1) I just wanted to chime in that the battery life is absolutely atrocious. I have BB's that go for a week without a charge.

2) Non consistent interface. Buttons to screen, screen to buttons. Hey, how does Apple do it?

3) No video player. I mean come on now. Please don't mention 3rd party. Any good OS on a phone or PC should be able to play several types of media.

The good...

It's a gee-whiz-bang phone.

Pros:
1. As previously mentioned, Gee-Whiz-Bang phone.
2. Keeps me (ADDboy) entertained and engaged.
3. Wide open potential.
4. Can even be used as a telephone.

Cons:
1. Very poor performance on notifications ie: Low Battery, Missed call, POP3 email received, Calendar event due.
2. No summary screen available, yet, similar to the Blackberry curve I'm about to sell.
3. Keyboard keys a little too recessed for my taste. Maybe I just need more practice.
4. No desktop sync/data management software. (I won't bore you with what Google did to my .csv file to sync online with Google contacts)
5. Lack of control on file management ie: inability to store apps on the SD card. (To my knowledge)
6. Lack of certain fundamental software ie: Flash, PDF readability and the like.

There are more of both good and bad however this is what comes to mind at the moment. I kept the phone after the 14 day period so they cons must not be insurmountable or I'd be back on the BB.

Regards

maybe I have a keyboard that's different, but why do people keep referring to the keys as "recessed"?

Mine aren't.

Recessed means "sunken". Like an "innie" bellybutton. Like a hole. That's recessed.

Mine are just a milimeter or two above being flush, nowhere close to being "recessed".

My 4 buttons on the chin are flush, but the keyboard keys are definitely domed.

I used the term recessed as I was viewing the phone upside down. :D

They are definitely convexed, however the concaveness divided by the factor of convexness could be higher therefore providing a more tactile experience and possibly improving my typeing ...tpying...tipeing skills.

Enough of that, you're right. I'm wrong and now I can't see my monitor because my head is hung in shame.

CONS:

- Can't see keys even when lit up on white version especially when dark
- Obvious many features were shortsighted and or not meticulously planned (as should have been) for best possible user interface.
- Sending text to multiple contacts sucks
- Call history by DATE not DAYS
- Problems with cookies and cache in browser
- Problems with many google features in browser: iGoogle, google news
- Problems with instant messaging: problems signing out and changing screens, AIM won't connect if screen name already connected
- Problems logging into Google, 3G connection not always available.
- Maps only work with connection to network

CON

Bluetooth doesn't support file transfer. WTF?
Doesn't support video

.

The next OTA update should add additional functions to the BT capabilities ... seems that prior to initial release last OCT, Google discovered vunerabilities in the BT that would have allowed the phone to be Taken over by other BT devices ... so to protect the phone the limited the BT function .... this should be resolved ... hoping ????

Your post ask a question ? WTF ? which would be normally be ignored or answered. I chose to give you the benefit of the doubt and answered it ... and you responded with the following:
excuses doesn't make a good phone
... Properly using English the above would be ... "excuses don't make a good phone"
. I know that this may be a bad assumption that English might not be your native language.

It is clear from your question and then your response to my answer is that you are clueless as to what constitutes an answer and that you really didn't care about the answer or explanation as to why the BT was not yet fully enabled. Or maybe you asked "WTF?" because you were incapable of asking a sensible question.
If you already knew the reason that many of the BT features were currently disabling as opposed to not being capable... then your "WTF?" was a antagonism rather than a true question.

If this is your mode of communication ... then you may find that your questions get ignored ... when you might need an answer the most.

Yes okay. I meant to say, excuses don't make a good phone.

Get bent dude. You are correct I couldn't care less about the answer or explanation as to why the BT was not fully enabled. Who gives a crap? The fact of the matter is ITS NOT THERE. And that sucks.

After having this phone for a while now I can say I'm disappointed. Its just completely lacking in features and functionality. Yes its a decent phone but clearly not the iPhone killer many people were hoping for.

I expected a lot more.

LOL!!! yes and I am sure you won't use the features when they are safely made available. That they were not there initially was a disappointment for everyone, I think, but would not equate that to the phone sucking ... just makes it a current CON ... If it was Never! going to have other BT features, then that would suck and be a fatal flaw in development of both hardware and firmware.

So... For Now:

CON: Limited BT

PRO: It can be fixed !

PROS: like my beloved sidekick but with a touch screen!!
many cool FREE apps including an alarm clock
wifi
sound quality rules... both speaker and ear
keeps me very entertained
voice dialing is amazing

CONS: battery life is horrible!!!!
no apps for nurses, 1st responders, doctors such as drug guides,
assessment, diagnoses etc
when you delete a text, it deletes the whole convo with that person
not just one text.
no flash for the camera
non-illuminating trackball
no missed call status on screen
making a call from the contact list sucks?? delay on touch screen???
can't figure put how to delete ringtones from websites. hides them
somewhere. should just go into a simple downloads folder located on your desktop or pull down screen.

but hopefully some of these may be resolved with cupcake

im still trying to figure out whether i should sign up for the $35 g1 service or just continue to run off of wifi connections????

CONS: when you delete a text, it deletes the whole convo with that person

You can delete individual messages:
Open the messaging app, open a conversation, tap and hold on the message, select "delete message". I just did this, it only deletes the message you tapped on.

no missed call status on screen

Yes there is, it's in the notification bar with all the other ones - this is pretty standard on smartphones. In fact, it doesn't seem to go away until you click on it or check your call log.
