Help how to transfer info and apps from Droid to X?

Apps - no.
By info do you mean like Contacts? If so...then yes.

You need to reenter all your social network accounts and email addresses though.

so how does someone get all of their downloaded apps into the new phone? i am coming from the iPhone 4 so thanks.....is there somewhere on the Android market that remembers what you downloaded so you have to do it again 1 by 1? That sounds silly if that's the case.

Here's how I plan to do it:
1. Backup my important apps using their backup functions (if available).
2. Backup my sd card to my PC.
3. Make note of all the apps as the Market 'downloads' don't always list every app.
4. Copy the apps folders that contains the backups to the X.
5. Install all apps on the new phone.
6. Restore using the built-in restore functions of that apps that were backed up.

I love App List by Elite Nerds. Small (30kb), easy (only one big button in the app), saves a list of all installed apps in a text file (applist.txt) in your SD card root directory.

If you are Syncing Contacts with your Gmail account, they all saved in you Gmail contacts (confirm online http://mail.google.com). When you get your new phone, when you put in your Google account info during initial setup, contacts will be transferd to the Droid X.

Syncing Contacts: Settings / Accounts & Sync / Manage accounts / Google / check Sync Contacts

and from that point what do you do when it becomes a text file and you get rid of the phone with the sd card that has that text file?

YOU might do that, LOL

You could use a File Manager app to locate and email the file to yourself.

You could connect your phone to your PC and copy the file that way.

You could remove the SD card, insert it in an adapter, and transfer the file that way.

That's the great thing about Android phones, lots of options!

I plan on getting the new X on 7/15 in-store....do they transfer all the info/apps from my old phone to the new one?

Of course my advice is only valid if you are moving from an Android phone to the Droid X. If you have a "feature phone", yes, Verizon will have to transfer your. Unless you know how to copy them yourself. I used BitPim with my old LG Dare to create a delimited ASCII file of my contacts, then imported them into my Google mail account before I bought my Eris. If you're on Verizon, you might try the Backup Assistant or gSync apps if they work with your phone. Never used them myself.

Here's how I plan to do it:
1. Use Titanium Backup to backup all my important data.
2. Backup my sd card to my PC.
3. Make note of all the apps as the Market 'downloads' don't always list every app.
4. Copy the Titanium Backup folder from the saved sdcard data on my PC to the X.
5. Install all apps on the new phone.
6. Restore the data only using Titanium Backup.

I don't think you can do anything with titanium backup because it is a root application.

Oopsie! So true, didn't even think about that and thanks for pointing that out. Well...... I will have to backup each program separately and and restore them that way. Thankfully Ak Notepad and Touchdown, my 2 most important apps, have built-in backup functions that do work well. My work emails and contacts will re-sync as will my Google contacts so no problem there. All the other stuff I'll have to deal with.

Or ... You could just use AppBrain. It's a great app for the phone and PC that keeps all of your apps listed in sync on the PC - and now features wireless app downloads from a PC straight to your phone with an add-on, even without Froyo ..
