shell/holster combo problem

does anybody else have problem the way the shell/holster combo fits? Top right hand corner of the shell won't snap on:thinking:

I was just about to order this when I saw your post. This case is actually made by Motorola and supposed to be one of the best cases out there for the Droid.

Before I bought the Droid I tried the Eris and got the equivalent shell/holster for it and I could not have been happier...it fit perfectly.

You're talking about the BodyGlove? Yeah there is no clip there, but it's still on snug. The piece on the side of the screen nearest to the keyboard when you slide out the keyboard is a bit loose though. I'm personally not a fan of the bulk that it adds. Have a phantom skinz on order and a leather pouch for when I need to toss it in my bag

I thought he was talking about this on...I had it for the Eris that I took back and it's an awesome case, but the store didn't have it for the Droid:

Really? Would they be so mean? When I go to my webpage and search for accessories that are compatible with my phone, that holster comes up, even though it specifically says that it is for Eris...and when i mouse over the Compatible with your phone it pops up with a picture of my droid again... just wondering...does the Eris holster fit the droid or are they lying?

I have this one and love it! It looks great and has a nice slim fit.

The accessory in question was recalled, to be replaced soon.

I'm confused, one user says it's great and another says it is recalled. What is the deal here?

Interestingly the link to it above is not working now, it was fine a few hours ago......

Link is working again.

Where's the recall information? The manager of the largest store in Virginia Beach, VA sold me this personally on yesterday (11/14) and he was using it himself and said it was the most popular Droid case inside Verizon. If it was being recalled...the web page probably wouldn't still be up and there should be something wrong with it...slips out of the case, etc.

Beside, I can't see anything wrong with it...it's a perfect product. In fact, the belt clip is the most solid of any I've ever seen on any holster, even the OEM BlackBerry holsters.

Thanks for your insight. Could you please answer the following:

About the part that attaches to the screen. Are the left and right edges of it rigid or do they have a lot of play, meaning that they will bend outward away from the screen? I bought the silicone gel case at the VZW store and the part that attaches to the screen is so flexible that it doesn't cover the edges of the phone as well as I would like. I can see the metal underneath because it bows away from the screen, it should be completely covered.

Here's the best I can do to convince somene. First, I'm a Taurus and if something isn't perfect...I'm simply not going to own it. Every single piece on this case fits "PERFECTLY" to the phone. The entire phone simply snaps "gently" into the bottom part of the case and the "very thin" display edge guard snaps on the same way.

There are no (and I mean absolutely NO) bows, sags, or misfitting parts on this holster. This is better than other BlackBerry holsters I've purchased from SeidioOnline.com and paid over $60 for. Plus, if you're not happy you can return it...either online or at any VZW store.

All that said...I also like the leather case I posted about for when I have to dress up. And the beauty of it is it holds the phone with the shell on it so you don't have to remove anything to put it into the leather case.

I have to agree, I too am as picky as they get. This case fits amazingly well. I do see what the poster above was talking about regarding the top right corner not snapping in. This corner snaps in to a lesser degree than the other three which snap in really well. But it does snap on and stays put. The holster is beautifully designed and it mates together with the shell just great. To top it all off the entire combo is covered in a textured and rubberized material which seems to be more lint and dust resistant than the coating on the silicone gel case I was previously using. This is definitely Seidio level stuff.

I just think it's the best we have to choose from right now...and I'm very happy with both. When something better comes along, I'm sure a lot of us will buy it. But I can't imagine any holster getting any better than the Shell/Holster Combo. Maybe the leather case someone will make better someday.

Seidio is sure to release one soon and it will be at least as good if not better. That said I can't see anyone being unhappy with this combo and the price is very reasonable at $29.99 for both. Seidio's case will cost that alone and then their holster will be another $29.99, but they will offer a combo for $49.99. Still that's $20 more than VZW's shell/holster combo.

I noticed it on my phone the second I put it on. That corner is about 1mm from even touching the phone.

I then typed in a search and found this thread.

I wonder if the recall that is being talked about is for this reason.

Mine actually clips on that corner, though not quite as strongly as the other three corners. I've heard the "recall" mentioned only in this forum...no one seems to have a link to it and the manager of our Verizon store has heard nothing about it. He uses this same shell/holster combo himself. You'd think he'd know and I just asked him today.

FWIW, I went into my local Verizon store yesterday and specifically asked for the shell/holster combo. A salesman nearby overheard me and quickly said it was recalled and all had been removed from the store. The store did had the combo for the Eris on the shelf.

They're still selling it in the Virginia Beach, VA store and my original link to it in their online store is still good. Doesn't mean they haven't recalled it, though...they had "Eris" under the picture of even though it was clearly the one for the Droid.

If was guessing...it's being recalled because after time it gets a little loose in the holster and might be more apt to slide out. I'm within the 30 days on mine so have been pondering taking it back and waiting for SeidioOnline.com to come out with something. Meanwhile, the heavier leather one works just fine.

I'm still not sure this is anything but rumor. I just called Verizon and actually got a young lady who was very helpful...and she researched it and said that PART# MOTA855HOC1 (this particular shell/holster combo) is not on their recall list and it's still being sold online and listed as in retail inventory. She said her recall list was accurate as of today. Not sure what's going on.

On second thought...I'm keeping mine! It's too nice a case and it's very protective, while still being thin-shelled around the phone.

I will probably keep mine until the store starts stocking them. Then I will go in a handpick a perfect fit!

On a side note, I do kinda wish it was more rubbery like the body glove. This is a bit on the slick side. A definite improvement from the slickness of the phone but not quite there for my liking.

I agree...but I just think at least my phone has a "chance" of survival if it gets accidentally dropped. I carried my last BlackBerry for two years and only dropped it once...on the concrete garage floor and there was not a scratch. I don't think the Droid would fare as well.
