HTC Hero browser not working correctly

Got the hero yesterday and am happy with it except for a couple of minor problems.

1) I cannot get some pages to close after viewing them on the browser. After clicking the X in the top right corner of the page the phone shows the message "stopping" but the page remains on the screen. Only way I can get the page off the screen is to reboot the phone.

2) I have the default screen on the home page. The two "white pages" show the time incorrectly; one hour ahead of actual time.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Adam

the X in the top right corner of the browser is not supposed to close it. That's a "stop" button. It just stops the page from loading in case you accidentally clicked a link you didn't want to or something. Just hit the home button and it will take you back to your home screen.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "white pages"..
have you tried going into setting>date & time and making sure it is set to the correct time zone? It should be set automatically by your carrier but sometimes they screw it up and you have to set it manually.

Thanks Sam. My browser seems to be quite buggy. my main purpose for getting the Hero was to go online to respond to emails on the go. I get a ton of spam and view the spam folder on my internet providers site. I'm viewing the emails now, have chosed which ones to delete, hit the delete button....and nothing happens. :(

UPDATE: It's working now. Guess I had a slow connection or something...

Thanks again,

Adam

I'd suggest downloading either Dolphin or steel, both browsers that are better than the default

one of the main selling points of sense is the multi-touch. Why would you use a browser that doesn't have multi-touch if you have the hero? That doesn't really make sense(haha).

anyway,
I don't know about the email thing but why don't you just use the mail app? That would be much easier.

As others have stated, the X in the top right corner of the page is the "stop loading" button. Depending on when you press that, the screen might be completely white when it does stop. It does seem like very strange behavior because you are suddenly faced with a bright black screen! To close that window, press menu->windows and the hit the X button on the top right corner of the window displayed. Note that you can only close the window if you have more than one open. The device won't let you close the last one. If this blank white screen is the only one you have open, then just navigate to another page.
