This is something that everyone wishes.
A logoLESS SGS.

When you look at this Logoless ATT Captivate, the unbelievable beauty of the logo-less screen will make you want to kill yourself trying to remove the logos.

Since I am currently working in a science lab, I have nearly all chemical available that can dissolve the logos. But, before I can try that, I need to tear down all the components out except the screen. So, I looked into this SGS Tear down Guide.

One thing that I realized is that I won't be able to tear down the screen. Or will i be able to? (please prove me that I am wrong so I will tear down that and try to find a method to dissolve or grind the logos away)

At this point, I just need someone to prove me that the backing of the screen is detachable without any damage.

Once I have the confirmation, I will be using acetone to dissolve the logos.

I have been trying to devise methods that would allow me to complete the mod. Now, it seems to be there is only one option, marking it with marker?

BUT do you guys have better suggestion?

Easiest way to do it is just smoke a bowl of kush, spin around in an office chair for no less than 20 rotations, and then sandpaper the screen until it penetrates the logo.

In other words -- I don't think you are going to find any great resources for disassembling a Captivate YET. I mean the Captivate is completely different than the original SGS design. We don't even have info on what the battery cover material is yet.

However the logo is above the screen, possibly giving you the chance to take out the screen and sensors and expose the logo for marking/removing.

I thought the logo is BENEATH the screen that's why I was worried in the first place about disassembling.

It seems to me that it's a continuous tempered glass.

But if the logo is underneath the glass , then it'll be a real hassle.

I suggest you wait about a month before you attempt this since the galaxy s isn't even released and therefore digitizers aren't up for sale either

I've realized that right under there is a digitizer + AMOLED. It wouldn't be that easy to take those out and put it back in.

Sorry I meant it is above the screen in the sense that it isn't touching any of the touch screen area. But now I am wondering if the entire glass front is just a touch screen with parts unutilized.

It shouldn't damage the glass, but if the glass has any coatings on it, it might damage those (depending on what they are made of).

Either way, be very careful (acetone will eat the plastic around the glass if you use to much) and use the acetone in a well ventilated area.

Well if its on top, i might have something that will do it without scratching or damaging what so ever.

I got a scratch and scuff on my car stereo's faceplate a few months ago. I looked up and down for a fix, and stumbled upon a product from Meguiars called PlastX.

its a plastic polish.

So, im buffing the screen, and if any of you have seen a car stereo in the last 10 years or so, you'll know that there are no less than 100 logo's printed on the screen. Mp3, Wma, usb, etc etc.

As i'm buffing, i accidently buffed onto the logos. I gasped at first, but then i was like, hot damn, thats nice!

So, if the logo's are ontop, im trying PlastX. You dont have to buy the big bottle either. You can buy the little sample package from autozone for .99! its MORE than enough.

BTW, i see someone mentioned acetone. Thats what the guys in car audio use to remove logos purposely. PlastX does NO damage, and does the same job

I'm definitely going to try PlastX. I should be getting my captivate asap, and will try it immediately.

I'll report back. Worst that could happen is it doesnt work

Just remember to verify FIRST that the logo is ABOVE the glass/surface.
If not, then it'll be waste of time / money / even damage the product.
