Why is Fascinate Hush Hush? Cause of VZW, Moto or Samsung?

I am sure if they advertise it, many people will opt out for it because of features...but since VZW has the moto bond...they always try to push moto devices...but it's still frustrating!!!

If it turns on, the battery lasts more than 5 hrs, and you can actually see the damn screen outdoors - its got my former Inc beat. Its the leader in my book right now. Samsung makes good phones.

yes it is. i was more excited than a fat kid on candy day about getting my Inc. At the time, it was the only game in town. Got it early, it died after 4 days, and then all the wind went out of my sails.
As far as I can tell, the Fascinate looks like a leader, but there is more to come. And who knows, Verizon may get the iPhone. If that happens I will really be torn.

It's not really a commercial, its just their generic video for their phones. Watch the Captivate one, its the same with the phones just being swapped. Plus, these videos have been available to view since the NY event a couple weeks ago, at the Samsung Galaxy S US site. The site has all 4 videos.

Anyway, I doubt VZW will advertise these phones themselves, it'll most likely be something similar to HTC's life advertisements. Samsung will advertise them as a class of phones.

I have seen many people question whether it will be part of Droid line up/naming or not...I think it will be something like "Samsung Fascinate by Galaxy S" as that's what the Captivate is named...just a thought.

I thought about that too. If I was making decisions at Verizon I would make it a part of the Droid line up.

They did it for the Eris.....lol I would be insulted if I was Samsung if they didnt at least approach Samsung about making it a Droid too.

I agree...all VZW Android phones should be part of Droid line up...I think it's a really neat idea.

I think they might have, and Samsung said no. Samsung is pushing their own brand of high end androids as the Galaxy S line. I guess they could compromise and call it Droid Galaxy S or Galaxy S Droid, but it doesn't really fit Samsungs naming scheme.

It's definitely VZW holding back the info. Moto surely has no say in the matter (they're not Apple, after all ) and why wouldn't Samsung want to advertise their new product. Can't blame VZW though, they have to run a business and sell lots of both of the phones. Oneuping the Droid X by pushing the Fascinate in front would ruin their sales figures and their "Droid" brand image.

I agree it's VZW holding back the info, although I woudl say Moto has a little say in it. And VZW isn't going to advertise a phone coming up (my guess is closer to Thanksgiving), when they have a release of a similar phone coming sooner.

It's not very common for the manufacturer to advertise the phoens, moreso the carriers. The carriers have more of a say about when the phone is released than the manufacturers, and the manufacturer wouldn't want to advertise one of their phones if it may hurt the sales of another (on a different carrier).

The fascinate has a better (although .3 inches smaller) screen than the x. better cpu, better gpu, but less ram. That is all we really know.

Call quality should be ok.

How do you figure on the cpu part? I haven't seen any reviews of OMAP vs. Hummingbird. I may have to do some digging around..

Hope to be seeing that commercial soon. The more i read about this phone, the more excited i get. I think I would take this phone over a Verizon iPhone, if that scenario was available.
In my opinion, this is the Verizion iPhone and can really help Android get an iron grip on the market. The Fascinate is so damn sexy, it will make the Inc and X look like chop suey. I am interested in reading more about the Hummingbird processor. They are touting a phone faster than other Android phones, so I will be looking forward to some bench tests. I've seen some with other Samsung Galaxy phones, but I want to see the Fascinate. I also think Super Amoled is as good if not better than iPhone retina.

This phone will be out WAY sooner than Thanksgiving. It will likely have 2.2 by Thanksgiving time period I bet even. There is no way the other 3 carriers release this phone this month, and VZW waits 4.5 more months.. There is no info available of course on this, so it's anyone's guess for now. Mine is August ..

I agree. There's too much hype as it is. As soon as the X hype, or lack of, dies down, we'll have a release date. The Droid X is one ugly phone. The grey finish reminds me of their old flip phones from 1997.

I handled the phone at the store an hour ago. It is NOT an ugly phone. That's a personal judgement. It's not ugly. It's huge, though. Huge and thin. (no "that's what she said jokes), please)

I'm not sure if I want it or if I'll wait for the Fasc, but it's not ugly.

How did you get your hands on an X when they're not releasing the in-store demos until 7/15?

Ok, so the X may not be ugly, but from what I can tell, the Fascinate is still better looking. Things I like about the X is the 3 microphones for better sound and the double flash, which I'm not sure is necessary or not.

Yes, you're right. It is not on display, but my store had one behind the counter to show folks. I played with it.

I've talked to a few Verizon story employees and they've been dropping hints about something big coming to Verizon here in the next month or so. I don't know if it was the X or not, hard telling with so many Android devices flying at us.
I would be shocked if the Fascinate wasn't released with a big bang. I think this is the phone Verizon should be marketing as an answer to the iPhone. That Samsung commercial would even have iPhone users thinking twice.

Kidding about what? I said that the other 3 carriers are releasing the phone this month, and there is NO WAY that VZ will be waiting another 4+ months to release theirs .. I keep watching the video reviews and just can't get enough of it. The only thing, from what i can tell, that it needs is more MP on the cam and could have had a front cam, but that's not a deal breaker. Now that phones are so much more powerful, I can see someone coming up with a front camera attachment that is not too intrusive.
