where HTC falls short on Android devices

I have had the Hero and now the EVO, and for the most part loved HTC sense and the way they integrated it with the standard OS, but they fell short and need work on some usefull apps.

Now I am not an iPhone lover but their are some things that apple did better.

1. Notes

HTC didn't even include a basic note application, granted their are alot in the market, they all are black and very dull looking, I would have really liked to see an HTC version of a Note application

2. Gallery- for the most part I really like it, because most of the devices have multitouch. But one thing kills me with the app is that when you are looking at the photo and you touch the screen it exits out of the photo, and goes back to all of them

3. Music, I truly wish that I could have a perfect version of the standard vanilla 2.1 Music app. I have tried 4 different version's all of them have apperantly been stock, but their is always a big problem. When scrolling up and down and using the small lever on the right that skips to each letter, I will go a little bit down and it will skip from A,B all the way to R, the T. When I am not moving it down that far.If anyone has found a working version please share.

Launching the app takes almost double the time than stock and when you want to go back to your selection you push the button on the lower left and it takes a while to load up, but brings you to the artist tab by default so you have to scroll over to music and it starts in the beggining. I know you can push now playing and it will bring you to your music, but I am constantly adding new songs, and have to do it the old way to get music.

HTC Music really bad IMO

4. Weather
This sucks really bad, First complaint is it doesn't even let you add local cities, the nexus one news and weather app does, but this doesn't. I know it is possible to get that .apk, but for your average user doesn't know how to do that. What I don't get is it lets you use your location to find the weather, it will detect the local city, but will not let you set that as default. Another complaint is that it only gives you 4 days, rather than 6 and 7 on the iPhone and nexus. Lastly, when using usa today, yahoo and msn weather I get relatively the same temp, but with HTC, it is sometimes 4-5 degrees off

You proly think I am complaining about stupid things, but IMO these are all easy problems that HTC should fix, as advanced as the EVO is it should have all these little problems worked out.
Also, if anyone has a working Vanilla 2.1 Music .APK, please share.

1. Download Jorte. It's a personal organizer/calender app. It's got a memo/to do list widget that is similar to a notepad that's pretty customizable and not black and white at all.

2. Can't help with Gallery.

3. Try Music Mod v1.6 and see if that fixes your issues. I dig it. It's not on the market and you'll have to get an apk installer to load it. Music Mod V1.6 MDPI + HDPI – Pirate Media – Android Application Development
AppsInstaller - Android app on AppBrain
Put the .apk on your SD card and run appinstaller

4. No weather app/widget isn't going to be 100% accurate. No weather man ever is. It's still a prediction. They also not location based on were you are it's based on where ever the service it is using and is gathering it's data at a weather tower. It's not a big deal to me since it's not going to ruin my day if it's 86 instead of 93. At least every app will tell me if it's going to rain that day so I can grab an umbrella.

i've added cities to the weather app. i have my current city as well as anouther city in anouther state. can quickly flip between the two.

I was also going ot mention that you can add as many locations as you want for weather, however it will only display 1 location per page. I miss my Instincts weather page that showed temps and weather conditions for a list of cities on 1 page.

HTC does have a note application. I actually like sense. There could be some improvements, I would love to have the 2.1 picture gallery, but overall the apps in the market mimic Sense. for example I like Launcher Pro but i do not use it because it is missing the Sense widgets. Some of the Sense widgets are the best in Android. Thats my opinion.

filkie is a great app.

I use ADW.launcher because i prefer the different pages of apps, and like the browser and phone launcher on the bottom more.

So I can't use the HTC notes widget, its still not an app, you cant even edit an existing written app.

And for the weather I am not talking about major cities. I know you can have chicago, New york, tokyo ETC. Alll added.
but I am 45 minutes south of the city and because of the lake front, the weather is usually different, It rains here when it doesn't in chicago and vice versa.

Lol careful when comparing the evo/htc to apple. Some ppl dont like that

The weather widget htc has was amazing when i had the devices i just hated how it got my location wrong

Htc gallery app is nice but slow. It took thirty seconds for all pictures to load up but then again i did have thousands of pix. Even the motorola droid app is slow for me

Froyo will do wonders for all phones

There are few gripes that I have on the Evo's music player. One is that it doesn't recognize the playlist I tried to sync with Windows Media Player. Another thing is that even if I edit the info on WMP, it will still show the old information before the edit on the phone. It's frustrating trying to organize my music using the phone.

i believe that's the regular 2.1 gallery app and htc change with there own, which is ok but i really prefer android instead of htc, hopefully with the update we get somehing like that

I don't know if this is what Yall are talking about but here is the real 3d gallery with the pinch to peek feature like on the nexus one, no flixie wallpaper just a simple apk. Install and of course astro or some other file viewer!
