Hey guys,

I'm getting the Droid X on Thursday, upgrading from my Samsung Alias. I have already transfered all of my contacts into my Gmail account.

I am wondering how the transition from my old phone to Android will work and if you have any suggestions of what to get in terms of apps, since I'm totally new to this.

Thanks,
Kavanova

Paid apps are liked to you gmail accoun, so as you use the same gmail address when activating the phone you are good.. all other free apps, you would just need to look for them and download them or use a backup app from the market

The transition is pretty easy... All you have to do is to login with your google account on the phone, and it will take care of all contacts and calendar entries from that account. Then, it may also want your facebook and twitter accounts to start pulling that data in as well (though i don't know what Verizon puts on the phone, so don't know what it will ask for).

Then you can just go and start using it. If everything is in Google, then I wouldn't even have the store move any data over to the phone, just login to Google and it should all be there.

(Assuming that the setup on the Droid X is just like the Nexus One?)
