cant edit or add contacts w/o getting f/c. its when i add or change a name. can edit phone numbers or anything else. just cant add or edit the name..hmmm. anybody else?

Problems with contacts and syncing are often remedied by clearing data in gmail (manage applications) and gmail storage, then re-syncing.

i dont sync with gmail at all though. and gmail storage is empty

I'd start with a live battery pull (with phone on just remove the battery and leave it out for a few minutes then reboot).

If no success, I'd go ahead with a factory data reset, hassle as that is.

By the way, is this happening with the device charging? If so, that could be the problem. If not, never mind.
