Should I get the nexus one?

Ok so here's the deal. On fathers day I got the mytouch 3g slide for free. I like the phone but feel I may be happier with the n1. I could sell my slide on ebay for around 300-350 on ebay and I found someone in my area selling a perfectly good n1 for 325, so I would be losing a minimal amount of money, if any. I don't find myself using the hard keyboard too much on the slide so how is the keyboard on the n1? Is it possible to get swype on the n1? I also feel that the n1 will be more relevant in the future at getting more updates than the slide. What would you do in my shoes? Do you guys recommend this move? Thanks

You are asking an N1 sub group what they would do? I find the stock keyboard to work just fine. Takes a little to get use to but in just few days you should have the hang out it. I believe you can get swype (there are other programs like that) on the N1. I tried some of these programs and while they are nice in portrait mode, they are terrible in landscape. As long as the N1 is googles baby it will be treated as such. I would stop wasting time looking at this thread and get to selling your mytouch!

yes you can get swype on the N1.. i would go for the N1, specially for that low price

The keyboard is the keyboard, but the beauty of Android is if you don't like it, change it. You can even make it look like an iPhone if you care to blaspheme

And swype is available, but i believe it's a paid app.

You do realize there are two versions of the N1 floating around out there ... a version compatible with 3G on T-Mobile - U.S. Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (900/AWS/2100 MHz) and one Compatible with 3G on AT&T (U.S. Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz)

Make sure the one you get will work on your network or you won't get 3G

swype is avalible with a one month free trial then you must pay for it. the N1 is an awesome phone and if you can pick it up for practically nothing after selling the slide DO IT, you will nto regret the decision.

I didn't like Swype, seemed too unnatural and I couldn't get used to it.

I'm on Smart Keyboard Pro at the moment which I like. I feel that with a larger gap between the keys I am getting better accuracy.

I personally love swype on my slide but could get used to a regular touch screen keyboard if need be

only thing i didnt like about swype is the keyboard is to small and i kept hitting the wrong keys, its also bad for regular typeing which was ffaster then swype for certian words.

Does anyone else think the stock keyboard got A LOT better after froyo? I don't know if they really even changed it or anything, or if i somehow I just got the skills of an asian hacker, but i actually think it's pretty darn good now. I especially like how they added the tap to save a word now, gotta love reinventing the english language
