Swiftkey beta brings new keyboard, world class predictive text to Android -- Engadget

Just search the market for swiftkey

Didn't see any "EVO" specific threads about this so I thought I would share. Basically, it reads and predicts your text very accurately. I haven't used swipe, so I can't compare, but this is awesome. My only concern with it would be using credit cards or bank info...so I'd probably switch back to the stock keyboard if I was doing any mobile banking.

I took a look at this keyboard but it doesnt appear to have a voice to text button like the stock keyboard. I find that feature to be useful while driving...

good application! I like the fast way it learns the way you type and also dumps all the words used into the predictive text dictionary immediately. Still getting used to not having a keyboard and this def.helps. Now if I can find the option for not putting an automatic space between words I'll be all set. *Thanks button*

Didnt realize it didnt have that voice to text feature. Good info. Can always long press real quick in the message area and switch to back to Touch Input once your driving for whatever its worth. It is an extra step but I do like the fact you can change keyboards out pretty fast on this phone..

Does this keyboard rotate when you turn the phone like other keyboards? I've searched around but all the promotional photos only show it in vertical position.
Also, if it goes into horizontal mode how big do the keys get?

Yes it does, the keys do get quite a bit wider when in landscape. I just downloaded it this morning so I'm still finding out new things it can do but it does indeed go landscape and widen the keys.

Or hit the menu button when this keyboard is up and use the voice to text button there..............

Just installed Swiftkey. I LOVE IT speech to text what more can you ask for it rocks. I find the EVO keyboard VERY sensitive and I have big hands that press hard. Not a good combo. I spend lots of time sending text now I don't have to type WOW. The only thing I have found that I don;t like about EVO is it is so sensitive. And I don't know how to make it not so sensitive. Anyone know how?

I don't get it... what's so great? I've been using the stock keyboard and it works just fine for me. Swype is neat, but not so great when horizontal- can't reach my right thumb to the left side of the screen without doing some time-consuming repositioning. And this... it just seems like the regular old stock keyboard, minus speech-to-text, which I use every now and then.

Am I missing something?
