Talk me out of a 1 Yr Contract with a new DroidX

I'll be switching carriers as a new Verizon customer... I've always been locked into 2 year contracts with my Blackberry(s), my iPhone (still 1 year left that my wife will take over)... I plan on getting the lowest possible voice plan that from what I understand isn't enough $ to qualify for the NE2 (correct me if I'm wrong), so I'm really stuck with this thing for 20-24 months (depending on special upgrade promos in 2012) If I go 2 yr plan commitment, correct?

Depending on the uptick to go from a 2 yr to a 1 yr, and I'm willing to spend $75-$100 more I think, I'm leaning towards 1 yr so I can get an upgrade sooner (with the future of LTE/4G, Dual Core, etc, etc, looking bright for the next 12ish months).

Am I thinking about this all wrong, any reasons I should goto 2Yr is the the few extra bucks at buy time aren't really a concern?

Wade

The base individual calling plan that i'll be buying (and barely using 1/3 the minutes of monthly) is $39.99 before my corp discount...I can't get a family plan since my iPhone is locked into the last 2 year contract I signed up for.

You've got me convinced. Also a 1-yr old phone would sell alot better than a 2-yr old phone when your contract is over. Practically pays for itself.

Rumor is that the 1-yr pricing will be $269 online or in-store after MIR. I'm gonna cancel my BB preorder and wait in line at the local VZW in the morning.

Thanks,

I had considered selling my iPhone to buy out the early Term, but the wife wanted it. I hadn't really thought about selling the D-X in 12 months, but I agree worth more for sure than at 24mths.

I'll be pounding the Verizon Online site in 2 hours (PST) in hopes of getting one ordered...

I'm going with the 1 year plan this time around. In the long run, it will be cheaper for me to get upgrades. I have a 39.99 plan before my 25% discount. My entire bill is only $65 a month the way it is now. For the $70 extra for a one year plan, I would have to spend well over 2x that amount to get a plan that allowed for annual upgrade, as far as I know.
