Verizon backpedaling begins on the X

Well...I got my order placed on line at 1:30 am this morning and it gave me an authorization number. However, my order status still shows awaiting processing and my card has not been charged.

Verizon CSR just stated that it most likely won't ship until tomorrow or Monday. She said they were doing them as they were ordered and apparently 1:30 am (1.5 hour after the balloon went up) put me a million units behind or something like that.

Bottom line, she said if you have no shipping notification as of noon and you have not been billed, it won't go out today and might go out as late as Monday. What a joke.

They definitely don't. The guy at the store this morning argued with me about the early upgrade because of contract date.

him - "where on earth did you get that idea?"
me - "the press release from YOUR company on the day the x was announced and i've verified it with 5 people, look at the notes on my account or talk to your manager"

walked out 2 minutes later with my phone... they're all morons

I got my confirmation email at 12:52 a.m early this morning and the status of my order is still the same. I don't think I am getting mine tomorrow either. This sucks. Others that ordered 12 hours later already have tracking numbers? The only explaination I can think of is since I didn't upgrade or renew my contract and purchased at retail price, my order isn't going to be filled as quickly. I'm getting pissed at Verizon about the way they have handled this whole Droid X release, but at least mine is on order. Until it arrives, I'll continue to use my Droid.

Well I just called back and got the same story from another CSR. If you don't have a tracking # by now, it won't go out today. They cannot explain how some people ordered later and already have their tracking info but said those circumstance are most likely not happening. This idiot rep also said "it doesn't look like there is a problem with my order, YET but that is not to say something is not wrong with their system in tracking these things"

Again, it is smoke and mirrors from Verizon and another screw up from a delivery stand point.

bpman, interesting. I just got of with Verizon CSR because I had to talk to them about the insurance for my Droid X. I explained to her that folks that ordered 12 hours later than me already had their tracking number and the status of my ordered hadn't changed. She looked and said she saw it was in the system and overnight shipping was selected. She said all orders before 4:30 p.m. today would be shipped. She said the warehouse just hadn't updated my order yet.

I don't think Verizon has a damn clue what is going on with this phone release. If I don't get mine tomorrow, it will be the last time I order a phone on release date again. It is just too frustrating and the system Verizon uses doesn't make a bit of sense. And the CSR's are clueless because they obviously haven't been given enough information by the higher ups within Verizon to even know what is happening.

I ordered before 12:00 midnight CST last night and received email confirmation on order at exactly 12:00 midnight.
So far, I have not received shipping notice either.
This is beginning to look like the Incredible fiasco all over again:mad:

I am sure alot of people don't like you right now! :p

:D

I hope everyone gets their phones with minimal grief. Ideally, I wanted one in my hands today because my current phone is a complete POS. But I don't have the patience to wait in line, etc, etc. Plus I had to work today.

I stopped by a VZ store a while ago on my way home and there weren't any lines. The guy said they still had X's left. Oh well.

I'd say they made this worse than the Incredible launch. I don't remember their being a problem with phones not getting delivered on time at the release. Some were actually getting them before they were suppose to. The delays started about a week after release IIRC...

How difficult is it to program their ordering system to setup shipping schedules based on time the order was placed? Their system is so random in who it was available to, and now who gets a tracking number. This next day shipping rumor better be right, or I'll be pretty upset that my opting to pay for the next day shipping option won't get me a phone any faster than those that didn't...

Is it really that hard to go:
*Millions buy
*Make it first come first serve so 2 people buy at 2:28 PM. The person that buys at 2:28.01 gets it prior to the guy at 2:28.02. There are computers. That is completely feasible.
*Send out the shipment to them!

VZW's way:
*Millions buy
*???
*RANDOM SHIPPING!

Underpants Gnome theory, strikes again!

Haha. You basically said the same as my post except without bullet points! :D

Also, I totally agree about them screwing this shipment up. Seriously, they did this so there wouldn't be as much demand for it so they could supply everyone. Instead, they screw it up and send out random orders and don't send out emails or anything. Come on VZW. You have billions. You should have your VZW stores coming to our houses and telling us that our order shipped then come back the next day to deliver it on a GOLDEN PLATTER THAT WE KEEP.

I think everyone is forgetting verizon has regional warehouses. Not all of the X's ordered online are comig from the same site.

I think the variability in stories about shipping notifiaction is based on how busy the region you live in is. So the guy in LA will get notification at different time then the guy who ordered it in Dallas.

I waited 3 months for the phone to come out, so what's another day or 2.
