A day from hell with Verizon, becomes Victorious!

SO. Some of you may know already I was switching my Incredible out for the Droix X. Well, it wasn't an easy day I'll tell you that.

Started out my rep didn't call me at 9AM for my appointment as she was supposed to.

So I called at 940 thinking she may call 30 minutes later.

I got a rep, he wasn't too freindly or about helping me too much. He wanted to charge me money and this and that. I just refused, finally he said he would call a local VZW store so I can just go in give them my Inc, and get an X no strings.

Well, I thought that was all fine and dandy UNTIL I was driving down to the VZW store. I gave them a call to double check everything, to make sure there was a unit waiting for me. GUESS WHAT, nope and they even hung up on me!

So I call Verizon, screaming mad. Flaming saying I would cancel my account now if something wasn't done, etc etc. My boyfriend said I looked like I was going to eat my phone. So they finally ship my X, and free overnight shipping blah blah blah all fine and dandy. Cool so thats done.

BUT, as I was trying to explain my issue with another line I had I got cut off, I'm on my 5th Moto Droid refurb in two weeks. Boyfriends phone.

So as I was still flaming, we were going to go to the original store that hung up on me and I was going to cut them a new one. But instead we went to the smaller retail non corporate Verizon. Of course they had no X's, I did find out they were preordering... on a side note there.

I preceeded to talk to a manager, and he was very empathetic to my situation, he had a similar one with the Eris. He was shocked about my story about the phone being sold out under me from the Corporate store, and that they even hung up on me. So he called CSR, explained everything to tell, of course they said they could do nothing, so he asked for a Supervisor. Finally after an hour of sitting there waiting for a Supervisor because supposedly there are issues with the Droid X's data, we got a Supervisor to check the account. The Super early upgraded the Moto Droid to an Droid X, we just have to ship back the refurb thats on our way to our house (from another CSR call), and then they'll send us an X at 1 year price.

:D YAYYYYYY. Two X's!

and sends texts to wrong people and facebook.

After seeing this issue first hand I am convinced it is not a problem with the phone. My wife has had an Eris since launch that constantly sneds texts/calls the wrong person. I thought man, the Eris is a POS so glad my Droid has never done that.

Guess what, I bought an X today, gave my wife my Droid and what do you know? Twice already it has called the wrong person. It is not the phone, clearly there is a problem either with Android software or with Facebook when dealing with contacts, as the only difference between my wife and I is she is a HEAVY Facebook user with well over a hundred contacts in her phone from there alone and I don't use it at all.

Congrats! I'm very surprised no one from the executive offices never emailed you back!
I'm getting my Droid X tomorrow (due to my Droid pooping out from the other thread.)

--->My executive guy hasn't contacted me again all week. I have left 4 message for him and still no call back. I called Verizon yesterday and explained everything. The CSR looked at my account and told me the executive noted everything. He assured me he would place the order for me this afternoon when he came into work.
I finished my day early today so I called them myself. The new CSR said the man hasn't ordered the phone yet (I think he has a little later shift.) I asked her if she would place the order for me. It took her a while, probably an hour, but she placed the order for me!

I will receive my X tomorrow, thanks to a few good people at Verizon. I am very mad that the executive has let me down. Horrible, horrible business. Unless he calls me back tomorrow or next week to explain why he has let me down, then I don't have any respect for him.

As for everyone claiming user error for the OP, just back off. Same situation for me. Get a life if you don't believe her.

Thank-you! I'm excited for you, and for me, and everyone. I was so jealous sitting there watching all the people picking up the X's as I was on the phone with Verizon.

I couldn't believe out of 13+ Executives nobody emailed me back either. I swear you have to do leaps and bounds to get Verizon to do anything for you anymore. I got lucky with the Manager at the local Verizon store, he was very nice and did above and beyond to help me. Besides that every other person just treated me like garbage. I hope the Exec emails you back! Update me on what you think of the X.

Once again, thank you for your help with the emails and what not. Justice was served after all on both our parts!

:)!

Maybe it is the software.

I haven't had the problem on my Incredible, or any of the 4 other Moto Droids (granted none of them worked too long to notice lol). I have about 800+ contacts in my facebook and havent seen anything yet though in a month and a half. We'll see on the X though!

I hope your issue gets resolved for you though. Maybe it was some new phone glitchyness.

Thanks, sorry if I didn't clarify tho. I'm not having a problem on my X. My wife is now having the same problem on the Droid she had on her Eris. I am convinced it has something to do with how Facebook integrates with the phones contacts.

Enjoy your X! I'm not jumping ship from my DInc because I'm going to wait for front camera and LTE but I'll admit it IS tempting.

I just don't see a big enough difference from DInc to X to justify the change for me, but in a situation like yours where you were having problems I don't blame you a bit!

Three things

1)You go girl :)
Congrats....and it is good to see another girl in this guys world!

2)Why is it everytime somebody has x amount of refurbs in x amount of days.weeks
someone wants to shoutout user error...it really could just be a hardware/software issue or the phone sucks?

and i forgot the third thing but anyway congrats!

We see that in the Eris forums as well. I've come to believe it is for a couple of reasons, depending on who it is coming from.

1. Some users just can't believe that their beloved phone might have something wrong with it, they have to feel that what they have is the very best, so when a post is seen reporting problems they'll come flying in to trash not just the issue but the person as well, and

2. Some people are just control freaks, especially toward the few ladies that show up in forums such as this one, so we'll see them trying to one-up on them, and a complaint is easy to target.

3. They send you refurbished phones. How do you know they actually fixed the original problem with said referb? For all we know some smuck back in China turned it on and said "looks fine to me must be a user error" sticks it in a new box and ships it back out.

First off Carmen its good to see you track down an X so quick.

Second every refurb comes with a sheet in the box that has all of the test they have done to see what the issue is and it will state whether it passed or failed so you know if the guy in "China" is doing his job (warehouse is in Texas so it more likely Jose is working on it than Lin Fong).

Third I don't see why people think that phones will work perfectly in every way shape or form. Don't get me wrong your phone should but I don't hear people coming in and yelling at the guy in Best Buy that his computer is messed up when the company who made that computer is Dell, HP, Gateway etc. I work at a retail location and I'll be the first to admit I get pissed when people act like I being the Verizon rep am the cause of all their problems. Take the issue up with the manufacturer like Nokia, Motorola, HTC, LG, etc. Understand that Verizon has to deal with all of these companies on the back end and keep them happy otherwise you get none of the cool new phones that are coming out period so that just adds to the bureaucracy that you as the customer has to deal with. And thats the insiders view of why you have to jump through so many flaming hoops. Might not make that ordeal any easier in dealing with but just keep that in mind next time you come in to yell at me about something I have no control over.

Best Buy actually contacted me to let me no there was a droid x available, probably from a cancelled pre order. But, I am happy anyway because now my boyfriend has his droid x and i should have mine by monday. Went on Ebay and bought some amazing phone cases, stylus pens, and shields for a very low price, way cheaper then VZW/BB.
