I'm using the modaco 2.9. My battery is loosing about 17% in 12 hours while I'm sleeping.

I have 3 email accounts set to update once a day, other than that, I don't know what else is set to update. I didn't set up facebook, flickr, or gmail accounts.

any idea whats causing the drain? I don't use twitter.

you sleep 12 hours a night??? thats amazing!
no, i don't sleep for 12 hours a night. 12 hours is just the amount of time I don't touch my phone for.

Check your awake time. It might be something keeping the phone awake. I've also heard that putting it into airplane mode at night saves battery. Personally I just stick mine on charge at night.
how do I check my awake time?
If your worrying about that amount of loss you have got the wrong phone.
what does that mean? try to post something useful next time.

I think this is a normal. My Hero drains at about 1.5% per hour.
do you have stuff updating? like emails and things?

To check your awake time:

Settings>>about phone>>status SCroll down to the bottom and it'll tell you your up time, and your awake time.

i think the person meant that the HTC Hero doesn't have great battery life.

Could someone explain to me what 'awake time' means? May be a stupid question but I don't understand it! Cheers!

Your up time is how long the phone has been on for since the last time you switched it on.
Awake time is how long your phones' been awake for. When you're not using your phone it powers down into s sleep state to save battery power.

To check your awake time:

Settings>>about phone>>status SCroll down to the bottom and it'll tell you your up time, and your awake time.

Ideally, you awake time should be less that that. EG: Right now, my phones up time is 4 hours and 3mins, and the awake time is 1 hours and 6 mins (27%)

If it's 100%, that's not right, sometime's running in the background that's keeping the phone from sleeping. Does that make sense? I'm sure there's a more succinct way of explaining it.

awake time is a bit of a gimmick. Just tells you how much you have used your phone really (assuming there are no glitches preventing it from sleeping etc). If you use the phone more (high wake time) then your battery suffers. Use it less (low awake time) and the battery improves.

I'm usually hovering around 25-30% with moderate to heavy use and 7 hours sleep at night
