This morning I got to my Verizon store like an hour early and there were only 3 people there. I was number 4. The store guy put out chairs and stuff for us to wait and told us there are only 15 phones.
So I got the Droid X for the 199$ 2-year contract price by adding a line to my family plan. My contract was not up untill 2011 because I made it when I bought the first Droid. I told them to make my current number a suspended line. The whole process took a painful 45 minutes and some chick was walking around "activating" my phone. Anywho..

That day I had to work. All day I couldnt send texts or recieve them. I called the store during my lunch and they told me to do the *228 thing but nothing changed. After work I headed back there and told them my problem. I also told them that I really wanted to use my old number and just keep the new one (droid x) I added as a suspended line. He fixed my texting problem (said I had some feature screwing it up in my account and he took it off) and told me to call 611 verizon customer service and they would help me switch my numbers.

Sooo after a while I called Verizon at about 9:30. I told them that about my situation and that I wanted my old number to use with the Droid X and suspend the new one I just added. The guy I was talking to transfered me to another guy because the phone I had been using prior to this morning (samsung flipshot after I had sold my droid in april..REGRETFUL MISTAKE)
was coming up as a "lost or stolen" phone or something. So the 2nd guy I talked to told me that he could help me out. He said that he could send me a new Droid X in the mail, and that when I got it I can go and return the one I bought from the store and get a refund. He gave me the 199 2-year price so that I can use it with my old number. But this also saves me money because I don't have to pay any activation fees or anything. The verizon store would refund all of that and he would put the new Droid X on my bill.

I am pretty amazed that he could do that. My contract would not have been up untill 2011 and that is the whole reason I added a line. I did not want to pay 600 bucks and I told the verizon guy on the phone that. He said something like, 'Verizon doesn't like for customers to add lines and then have numbers that they don't use at all.' Something like that. So he was able to do an exception as he called it and give me the cheap price.
He also told me I could go ahead and just use the Droid X I have now untill the one comes in the mail, because I have the 30 day return policy.
He said the new Droid X would be shipped first thing tomorrow and I would recieve it monday. I even made sure and asked him if he was SURE that I would get it monday and he said Yes. I guess I just wasn't expecting to get an amazing offer like that. I don't have to have some number on my account that will just sit there forever.

As you can tell I am pretty STOKED about this whole situation.
And I am loving the HECK out of this phone. Seriously, going from a Droid from november '09 to selling it in april '10 and then using a samsung flippin flipshot from april till now. It seemed like A FRICKIN ETERNITY. If I could only marry a device..

is this a launch ps3, or one of those new ones?
the 80gb model. blu ray drive broke twice.

well to end the whole story of mine...

It didn't work out. I think it could have worked but I don't think the verizon store knew how to handle my situation. Everything I went through was a overly complicated situation. But I think it all ended bad because
Today I recieved the new Droid X. It had a dead pixel. So what I ended up doing was calling back verizon and putting my original number before I bought a single droid x onto my launch day Droid X. WHICH WAS MY MAIN MOTIVE FROM THE BEGINNING. They put the new added line number on the new droid I just got in the mail and told me to take that back to the verizon store. However the verizon store told me that whoever did this whole dealio wasn't supposed to do it at all (upgrade my contract early).

sooo the lady at the verizon store gave me a box and a return shipping label for verizon for me to return the new phone with the dead pixel. I'll still have an additional line that I don't intend on using for 10 dollars a month.
Verizon could have done this for me on the night I called them, but the guy gave me that deal instead.

Again I think it would have worked out if there were no dead pixel on the new droid. If I could have just activated that phone with my original number, I'm pretty sure I would have been able to return the first one I bought. Furthermore, the whole screen was different than my launch day droid x. Just like the original Droid, the dead pixel Droid X had a "washed out" look to it. My droid X from launch day has more vibrancy, as well as the tiniest blue hint to everything. The one I recieved in the mail didnt have the same look to it and the colors didnt POP as much as my launch day droid.

I still feel like I've been jipped somehow.. I just don't know how to go about any of this, and when I bought the droid x I planned on paying an additional 10 a month for the added line. I am tired of going through all this hassle so I guess I am just giving up and paying the 10$ every month because it's just too much to keep going on and on.
