anyone finding this in stock today?

I called a corporate store, the woman over the phone told me that they had 10 in stock, but when I got there, I dealt with the rudest customer service. apparently the woman i had spoke to had neglected to tell me that those 10 were reserved for business customers.

What is it with corporate stores and rude, pissant employees?

the stores here suck and because of things they say and do the customer care reps at the call centers catch the hell...I for one will never buy at another corprate store. I will walk in, and when asked to sign in simply tell them to get bent.. I am not buying I am just looking so I can order online.. online was so easy a lot more pleasant of an experience.

I had my X die yesterday and took it to a Verizon store. After they couldn't get it working they called around and found a store in Quakertown, PA that had just received about a dozen that afternoon. Seems like some other stores had also received some shipments that afternoon. I headed to the second store and the CSR indicated that they still had all the phones from that afternoon's shipment. That was around 6:00 last night.

Glad to know I'm not the only one whose Droid X died already. I mean, I'm sorry for you and for me, but at least you already got yours replaced. I'm stuck until my replacement gets here from Verizon. I ordered online. I'll never get excited about a phone on release day again. This sucks!

Since they are saying 7/23 before more ship, and since that is on a Friday, I guess I will not have my phone now until 7/26 at the earliest.

Thanks again Verizon for putting out a phone your consumers can't get.

Just out of curiosity, what went wrong with your phone? My screen started to scramble around noon yesterday as I was heading out of the office. I stopped by a store to have them look at it, but of course it started acting normal as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. It started up again around 4:00 and never came back. The CSR thought it was a software glitch. I knew that they were pretty much sold out and was prepared to be without it for a week.

The CSR and manger worked hard to find me another one. It may be worth it to call CS or stop in a store again to see if any other local stores received some surprise shipments yesterday or today. The CSR looked up stores in several zip codes and several were showing stock. The one I finally got a replacement from wasn't expecting it and no one had come in to buy one in several hours. You may just get lucky like I did.

My CSR said that means you should get it by 7/23. Not that it will ship on the 23rd. Hey, I'm trying to be positive here.

I just went in to a Verizon store today and switched from AT&T and got the Droid X. Now we have to wait until they ship to us.

The CSR said their system shows they have 42,000 units in the warehouse, so the expected ship dates of the 26th/27th should really be sooner than that.

Here is to hoping it is sooner and if they do get a local shipment in he calls me to come in and pick one up.

They don't have 42,000 units. Thats what they call virtual inventory but not too many customer service reps know that.

Their system was never designed to handle backorders. They tell the system they have phones (when they really don't) so they can continue to take orders. It's a workaround.
