Phone Not Ringing When Connected To Computer Via USB??

I found with my EVO that if I use a music ringtone, and if I have the phone connected and set as a disk drive (instead of charge only), that the music tones don't appear to be available. However, when set to charge only, I have no problem.

As a result, I only set it to disk drive briefly when I am actually transferring files, then set it back to charge only. It has not been a problem for me.

Thats Because the SD Card where your music is stored is being used by the computer and is unavailable for your phone for use...So it cannot play your Custom Ringtone.....

Ding ding ding!

I had a similar problem with another phone -- when you go to storage mode, it locks the SD card for PC use. I was trying to transfer 1GB of files via USB and listen to music, but it kept telling me there was no library available. I thought the card got corrupted or something.

Once froyo hits and people install apps on the SD card, this will become a more pronounced issue. You'll have to juggle what goes on SD and what's installed internally depending on whether you want to use those functions while transferring files.

I just tried using Droid Explorer to drag an drop a music file somewhere safely into one of the system folders and i was able to play the file but not able access the menus to add the file as a ringtone and since the music Player only accesses files on the SD card...I think we're out of luck because in the Media player is the only way to access the menu to save a song as a ringtone....Unless someone else figures out another way

And it also seems dragging and dropping these into the system folder may be easy but it gives you a hard time when you try to delete the file ...grrrrr :D
