Battery Drops like Ashley Simpson's Career?

This happened yesterday before I charged the battery from the store so I accepted it, however, today not so much.

The battery seems to hold off fine, but then as soon as the battery hits about 35%, it goes into a free fall until finally - minutes later - the 5% warning pops up and all of the sudden the phone shuts off and has to be charged to above 10% before it will even turn on.

Has anyone noticed this on their new Droid X (After the primary charge)?

I am having the same issue. Not only is the charge dropping pretty fast from the get-go but that last 25% or so drops within minutes and it warns of 5% left. And then it shuts off in no time after that. WTF is going on??

Mine has gone strong all day. It was 80% when I got it. I plugged it up and in 30 Mins it was full. Played all day and thirty mins ago it hit 40% then next thing I know (5 mins later maybe)it's at 20 so I plugged it up.

Same here! I am not impressed so far with the battery life or the phone. I think my Dinc was over all a better phone at this point.

Im very impressed, full day of nav for the commute, nav both ways for lunch, lots of video and calls today. Its like double an inc capacity. This ti. Processor is living up to its name!

I'm still messing with mine so much that I honestly can't say either way. I took off task killler though and it seemed like it drained faster afterwards. I also ran live wallpaper half of the day and then tried a clock/weather widget that I don't think helped much either. It's fully charged again now though and I re-adjusted my brightness, etc.....guess we will see

Search the forums here for battery threads. I read somewhere that you shouldn't let the battery go completely dead before charging. Or you call verizon, they may send you a new battery. ???

Ok, I only have half paid attention to actually handle a battery correctly, but I was kinda hawking the Incredible threads back in the day (aka a month and a half ago lol).

I think those of you experiencing battery issues may want to try the following:

Turn you phone completely off, let it charge to 100% and then some (tough, I know). Take it off the charger and turn it on and then use it normally until the sucker shuts itself off (obviously don't make a habit of doing this b/c letting the battery get that low consistently increases the chances you'll damage the battery). This should only need to be done once. Oh, and one more thing, don't try to turn it on once it has shut off from low battery b/c it could harm the battery: charge it at least a bit before turning it on again.

What I'm talking about here is NOT conditioning the battery: these types of batteries apparently don't need conditioning. The way I understand it, the battery itself has some sort of chip or something inside it: this is to calibrate that chip, not anything in the phone and not to condition anything.

BTW I poached this from a post I remember from the Inc forum: the person was far more eloquent and much more informed than I am... sorry for butchering it. lol

This will undoubtedly kill any and all of what you have of battery life left. As great of a feature as these things are, the only way I would consider running one is if my phone were docked and charging for a period of time.

I just got mine tonight I am going to give it a few days but yes the battery so far is worse than my Dinc.

Most of those statements are if you have ATK installed or killed vital processes.

AGAIN: I'm probably double my droid incredible with a 1500mah battery in performance with the droid X

This new TI processor (not the same as the droid incredible) is REALLY living up to real world performance and battery life... small cpu casting FTW!!!!!

I would give it a few days before you pass judgement on the battery life. I have noticed that these batteries take a few charge cycles before they are properly calibrated.

I never had an Incredible but my wife has a droid that has very good battery life. I did have an Evo for a few weeks (returned it to get the X), and that phone had major battery issues. If I used it a lot I got only a few hours.

LOL Well I had to test it first to see what kind of limits it had Of course I was right in my suspicions....it's just l ike any other smart phone out there. Cool features like that just aren't worth having to charge my phone that much though

If it gets me all day running as hard as I did today I will never have issues or need for extended battery.

My battery life has been excellent so far. I'm on the same charge from 7am (14.5 hrs ago) and I'm at 40% and I've been playing with it throughout the day...a lot!!

hmmm I'm gonna bet that your battery's calibration is off: afiak, it should take more than an hr to completely charge back up. You may wanna leave it on the charger for a few more hours and then run it all the way down to make sure it's properly calibrated from 100% to whatever the phone shuts off at.

The only other battery I have to compare to the X is my Storm 1, and not only does it blow it out of the water in every imaginable way, it absolutely smokes it in the battery department.

At noon mine was fully charged and I was trying to drain it. Watching movies (probably about 6 hours worth of that alone), browsing the web and playing with apps. Pretty much constant use and it finally went into the red and died at about 9:30. It charges fast too. I put it on around then and when I checked it at 10:30 it was 90%.

Yep, those Live Wallpapers use a lot of juice! I'm using a really cool fireworks one and it eats up the battery a lot faster. When I use a static wallpaper, it lasts quite a bit longer.

I'll probably get that extra capacity battery that is coming out next month. Then I'll not only have a larger battery, but also a spare for when the need arises.

Battery life on this phone is going to be all over the place depending on how you have it set up. Live wallpapers are just one thing that significantly reduces battery.

I havent had this except for once it gets to 5% then it drops really quick but it lasts me a whole day easily and i use it alot which is so much better then with my inc. And if they do find a problem they can send out an ota to fix the battery
