My dilema..Droid X or Incredible

Well like I have stated I do not see a huge different in the phones other than the obvious with appearance and Sense UI on Inc.

I do feel that the Incredible does things a lot smoother..I have never had a freeze or a jolt on the Incredible and have had a few on the X. I do like Vanilla Android and I do like the screen size though..It is a really tough choice..If I choose the Inc I will just take the X back within the 30 days..if I choose the X I will give my sister my Incredible..Anyone else have this dilema between these 2 phones?

I just upgraded from the Inc to the X today. So far they both seem about the same speed wise to me. I honestly can't find really any difference in the "smoothness" at all. To me they seem exactly the same. This may change over time but so far that's my impression. It's like an Inc just supersized.

I liked the idea of the large screen and that was my main motivation to go to the X. So far in the short time I've used it I have seen a marked improvement in the WiFi performance of the X. It appears to have a bit better cellular radio as well but that remains to be seen for sure. The main difference and one that really surprised me is the battery life. The X seems to be using far less battery than the Inc. That was a huge surprise considering the size of the screen.

It sounds dumb but after using the X for a few hours I turned the Inc on and was like "wow this is small". It just seemed tiny and less user friendly after using the X.

Also, another immediate advantage I found with the X is the keyboard. It's so much easier to type on the X and the Inc.

Personally, if you don't mind an enormous phone I would go with the X.

Well I have been having major issues with the battery..today I took it off the Charger at 8am becaue it was full charged and went back to bed until 11am..When I woke up at 11am the charge was at 90% and I havent even touched it..Then I put it back on the charger again and by 1pm it was at 70%...then litteraly like 10 seconds ago it had 20% battery life and it just died and now it wont turn on (this is the second time this has happened since i got it) so I am not seeing the better battery :(

Wow man.. that sucks. I got mine via FedEx right at 3 PM. Walked in the Verizon store right when the rep was getting his too by the same delivery guy (yea go figure a verizon store with no Xs) anyway....

Got it swapped to my number and it had about 40% battery out of the box. I put it on the charger for maybe 20 minutes while driving around avoiding work. I went back to the office and dicked around with it for an hour or so then the battery was showing orange. I put it on the computer USB cable for about an hour the left. I charged it via the car again for about another 20 minutes and that was it. From about 8PM till now... at 2am it is still almost full meter and I have downloaded apps, surfed, messed with the FM radio, checked out facebook etc......

Did you charge the battery right when you got it??

Usually you are supposed to take it down to when it says less then 5% left to charge these types of batteries, at least I thought.

My fiances lasted for about 6 hours on half charge OTB with me going crazy with it on the internet and DLing apps for her about 80% of that time... it is now charging till full.

I personally thought the Inc felt cheap when I held it in my hands, like most other HTC phones. I like the solid feel of the X. Also, I was looking for a phone that could be a media center to replace other gadgets, so the big screen is nice. Also battery life is an important factor that made me stay away from the Inc.

Exactly!!! I've owned several HTC phones, as I was with Sprint for many years and it seemed the only decent phones they had (options wise) were made by HTC. To bad every one of them was a POS. I was grateful for Sprints no hassle insurance because I had to get replacements almost monthly.

I bet I went through at least 10 6700's, same for the Mogul after I upgraded to it. Sprint eventually gave me a Touch Pro because of all the issues with the Mogul and what do you know? I replaced it at least a dozen times because of keyboards that would just suddenly stop working. It was so bad that Sprint finally tried to move everyone on the Touch Pro to something else and gave folks several choices. After getting a Touch Pro 2 I realized I'd just swapped one crappy phone for another, jumped ship to Verizon and the Droid and been happy ever since. I will never own another HTC phone no matter how good it is. The only one I haven't seen break down is my Wife's Eris but it's a POS in it's own special way lol!!!

I have the same issue, I have both phones sitting here right now and I can't decide what to keep. I used the Dinc for about a month or so now, and the DX for 2 days.

Music sounds much better on the Dinc, not only louder but fuller.

X isn't as smooth, scrolling through apps is stuttery, where as the DInc flows perfect every time, same for changing screen. DX hesitates

HTC widgets are sooo much better, and the integration with android for accounts is better.

X has awful ringtones, the standard ring is soo quiet unless the room is silient, ill forget about hearing it.

the bigger screen is awesome for usability, i use it for browsing and slingbox and its great, with flash and possibly hulu ill be glad i have the bigger screen.

X has better reception, and call quality

X = froyo in a month or so, Dinc by XMAS, they'll mise skip to 3.0 at that point

In the end as of right now I'll probably be keeping the X

I wish i didnt have both phones because i was happy with the dinc, and im happy with the X.

I've had a Droid, an Incredible, and now an X.

I love, love, love the stock Android interface. I hate what Moto has done with Blur, or whatever the hell the skin is called on the X. It sucks, and it takes a lot of the functionality out of the Android OS...I really wish Moto gave us the option to take a lot of BS off.

As far as the phone, it is awesome. It's fast (running launcherpro), and it's built rock-solid.

The Incredible felt like a toy, and the battery life was dreadful. I've never had good luck with the battery on an HTC phone, ever.

As a new member, let me start by saying that these forums are great and provide an excellent resource. Keep up the good work!

I can relate to the DINC vs DX dilemma...I upgraded from the D1 to the DX on launch day so I have no experience with the DINC (although I have played with it some in store, but no extended use)

My first impressions with DX are:

1) I'm not crazy about the size as it is a tad too big for my taste (even though I have big hands), but it definitely is not a deal breaker for me. It's something that I would get use to and learn to love.

2) Battery life is ok, but not fantastic (I have been getting roughly 12 hours with light/moderate use, but hoping it will improve)

3) Not a fan of Moto's skin so I'm using LauncherPro, which I love

That being said...I do think I would like the a number of things on the DINC a bit more (especially form factor)....but I have a few concerns (two of which have been heavily reported on):

1) Call quality
2) Battery Life
3) Late arrival of Froyo (I'm assuming there won't be a stable root out for a while either...)

Can anyone with extended DINC use offer their experience?

IMO, If I can get through the day on light/moderate use with the DINC I would be totally fine, but couldn't live with charging every 5 hours..

Are the poor call quality issues fairly widespread? For the most part it seems relatively isolated, but I couldn't live with consistently poor call quality.

Sorry this post is so lengthy, but any advice would be great! :D

Exactly Cryworm..

Boneysota..as far as your issues with the Inc I have never had problems with call quality, battery life does suck but I have yet to see it be so much better on the X maybe slightly but not much, and they said Froyo was supposed to be here by Xmas there are reports about much sooner.

All in all though I will keep the X I do like it and just give my sister the Inc and if the Inc gets Froyo first or I decide I still want it I will just get it back from her :)

i would like to help you kind sir... both of these phones are great. and it all comes down to what you want in a phone. i dont have any problems with call quality and the mass of people dont either but no one knows bc people that are happy with their phone are not going to post on a thread so in reality it seems like these phones have lots of problems when its just a few people. I personally love my droid for a couple reasons... rooted smaller screen, and HTC sense is pretty so this phone will still get froyo fast since i can root, hear D-X may have problems in that field so thats a no no for me
