I have been reading this thread constantly to see if anyone else has any issues and it seems like everyone is all over the place on this battery life.

Here is what I'm running:
Beautiful Widgets
Task Killer that is ONLY killing non-dependent apps (like broswer, etc).
GPS On
Screen at 30% brightness

I got a full charge by charging the phone overnight, and this morning I was just using the phone for 10mins, browsing the web and using my location on google maps, when my batter bar slips down one notch. Also, the phone was getting extremely hot.

My last phone was an iPhone and it would NEVER get hot by browsing just for 10mins and using the Map, and my boyfriend with a droid doesn't get that issue. So what is going on? Should I go to the verizon store?

agreed on the task killer. Also what stock widgets are you still running. I found (on the display model in the store) that all of those were updating in the background. I would also use the power control widget to turn gps on and off only when I used it.

I am only running the gps toggle and wifi toggle stock widget. my other widgets are beautiful home widget, nytimes, and google search.

I tried not running task killer yesterday and my phone would just keep heating up.

I know everyone thinks this phone is the second coming, but every tip that you have been using for android to save battery, increase speed, reduce lag, etc.. you still need to do with this phone.

The tips are just common sense. Android phones are a lot like laptop computers. You can make them suck battery dry really quick or extend it big time all depending on how you use it and how you have your settings configured.

If the only way you have to control an app is to download a task killer to kill it, then there is something wrong with that app and you need to ditch it. I found the stock toggle widgets hidding out it running services as well btw. Another common sense tip with android is to use the back button to exit apps. (Even if an app has a menu option to exit or quit, if its not coded properly it stays open and runs in the background) Pressing the home key to get back to the main screen keeps the app loaded in memory and keeps the data connection open if its needed. also unless you just have time sensitive emails you should turn sync off (using the power control widget). it will still allow txt/mms but will stop everything that syncs in the background (email, facebook, etc..) It works better than turning off mobile networks because you can still access the 3g network when you want to

MY battery stayed on from 5pm when I activated it till 7pm the next day..I was using web, tweetcaster, facebook, web, installing apps..wifi was on...and I was in smart mode. I did shut it off at night which I always do...if the battery lasts this long all the time, I am gonna be happy. the droid battery would drain real fast....
