I am in a verizon store. There is a droidx and droid incredible right next to eachother. I installed speedtest.net app on both. Used advanced task killer to kill background apps on both..then ran speedtest.net app.

Ran the test ten times on each phone to get a good average. Droidx gets 0.50 mbps max...incredible gets 2.0 mbps nearly on every one of the ten runs I did. Why? Is this a known issue? I wanna get the phone..its in stock..but this speedtest issue is bugging me. Any explanations???

Also the droid x is getting only 2 bars..the inc has full signal. Been here about an hour, and no change in signal or speedtest.

live update.. I am going to drive to another verizon store right now and repeat the tests on new phones..I will run with and withouth task killer. Ill update once I get to the new verizon store.

Task killers slow things down. Let the system do it's thing like it's designed to do.

Correction.... I did run two tests before killing all aps. I only used task killer because I was shocked at the speed difference..thought maybe a background app was slowing the droid downx down. I just ran the test five more times just right now, same results. It is not the advanced task killer causing a problem.

No correction, I just said that task killers slow things down, I didn't say that was the cause of your results.

Maybe the X in the store in defective. Go to another store and perform the same test and see what happens.

Just go into your profile and create an album. You can then upload ....or you can upload to flickr or like and drop a link.

I made the album..it won't let me upoad..it says uploads disabled..won't let me enable..please let me know how to enable and upload.

Also no working inc on display at the new store.. so I did droidx vs droid. Same slow speed on x and droid. Drove here for nothing, how could they not have a working inc on display ugh.

What its worth x and droid got same speeds.

Can you take a pic?

Okay here is the pic. (the pic is droid x vs droid.. the request for a pic was asked after I already left the first store... so i couldn't show you the droid x vs inc difference)
So a recap of what happend today.
I went to one verizon store, and there was a droid x next to an inc.. I ran speedtest.net app on both several times. Droid x got only .50 mbps max.. while the inc next to it was getting 2.0 mbps.

so I drove to another verizon store to replicate the test. I arrived to that store, and no working incredible was on display. So I decided to test the droid x against the original droid.

Both droid x and original droid tested at same speed. which was slow... around 0.36 mbps. Something interesting, if you look at the picture I attached... the droid x kept saying "server:wichita KS" while the original droid picked up the correct server " los angeles ca."

Also important to note. this second droid x had very very distinct grid patterns on the screen, very noticable on white backgrounds. I have yet to notice that on another droid x.

one other note. I live in los angeles, and both verizon stores had them in stock, as long as I was a new customer signing a new 2 yr contract. I find it hard to believe that some people are claiming this is out of stock. When you call the store to find out if it is in stock or not, lie and say you are a new customer wanting to sign up for a new contract... I bet you they will say it is in stock. I called a 3rd store in my LA area, and after asking me if i was a new cust, I said yes, then they said yes it is in stock.
