Picked up 4G in Los Angeles

Walking out of the Arclight theater, Sunset and Vine area, and picked up a strong 4G signal for blocks around there (including right in front of the Verizon store!!). Not sure if it was temporary, but will try again when in that neighborhood. No 4G signal in Silver Lake/Los Feliz area closer to home though. Boy was it fast!

Spotty, but not connectable 4G here in Pasadena. has been that way for weeks. If I leave my phone scanning long enough, it will pick up 4G, via the notification in the status bar. However, it won't connect and goes back to scanning. However, when I was in downtown LA last week, I had a very strong signal and speeds were fantastic.

Heya! I live in Silverlake too! Right on. I get 4G in West Hollywood sometimes near Santa Monica and La Brea. Nothing ever near Sunset and Santa Monica though... :( Maybe I'll have to head over that way and check it out! My cable internet at home is being really spotty right now, so I'm using my EVO for 3G tether and it's slow. I need my 4G!

Give LA 4G! For the Lakers! For Derek Character!

4G supposedly officially turned on in L.A., been picking up 4G in Culver City, but not at my home in West L.A., which is supposed to be covered. Guess I'll leave 4G on as I move about town and see how it works. Any other Angelinos with 4G reports?...

Caracter DID make the roster after all, lol.

Do you see your area in blue on this map:

Sprint - Nationwide Coverage

I'm getting full 4g bars in Woodland Hills.

ah, that's cool. i'm having trouble seeing my EXACT location on the map because it seems to be covered up by a green circle with a signal symbol inside. it does look to be blue where i'm at, but i'm not even getting 4G when i stand outside the house.

edit: i removed the green and blue circles from the map, and it definitely looks dark blue where i am...

the green symbol represents a recent 3g tower. You can zoom in on the map to see your location better, and not be covered by that symbol. Have you ever connected to 4g before? Are you sure there isn't something else wrong?

ah yes, i zoomed in and i am DEFINITELY in dark blue. yeah, i have been connected to 4G before, even briefly at home, and had a strong 4g connect in Culver City. not sure what could be wrong, i'm turning off wifi and turning 4g on.... i guess i'll keep trying.

you're on the Evo and i'm on the Epic... maybe that is the difference?

Haha, oh yeah, you already said you could connect in Culver City. Sorry. Hmm, I doubt the different phones make a difference. I assume you've rebooted? Do you have switchpro? Sometimes that interferes with it, but if you can connect elsewhere, I doubt that's your problem.

well, i seem to be connecting, and then getting disconnected from 4g. don't have switchpro or anything like that. i guess i'm gonna chalk it up to the network, even tho it should be working better according to the map. hopefully it will improve...
