Keeping the droid

Unless 2.2 and froyo comes out on the incredible or x in the next 2 weeks (my return date)

Reasons:

-I like the feel of the droid. Solid, really no need for an additonal case.
-The X just seems too big for a pocket phone.
-Both the incredible and X are a bit more snappy going between functions but that is about it, I really don't notice substantial if any browser speed.
-I guess I am a basic person, but I really don't need 7 screens. I use the phone for calls, checking email, occasional web browsing and maps. If I want to watch a youtube vid I just use skyfire. The
Droid gives up nothing here in my opinion.
-There are virtually no accessories available for the Dinc. My wife has one and she is jealous of the nice car and desk doc I got on the cheap.
-Great support group on this forum who know this phone inside and out.
-I got the droid for basically nothing and would rather spend the $200 on something that has a far bigger improvement than either the X or dinc.
-there seem to be quite a few problems with the new phones, although the wifes Incredible has been flawless.
-If and when froyo and 2.2 hits the droid I think I can be more than happy for a couple of years.
-the speaker on the Dinc stinks, and I have heard the X is not much better.
-I can always root down the line (currently running stock 2.1) if I become dissatisfied.

I know this is a droid forum so advice may be skewed but what are the thoughts on my thinking? Am I headed down the wrong path here?

The biggest reason for not getting the DROID pertains to those of us who are rooted and like to run alternative ROMs.

The X has a modified bootloader and software called eFuse - basically, what this means is that rooting the X is easy enough, but running alternative ROMs is gonna be a major PITA b/c eFuse is set up to check for very specific information from the ROM, and if it does not receive it, then it bricks itself, so that you have to send the phone in to Motorola to be 'fixed'.

To each their own - but I am keeping my DROID. It's kept me quite happy *and* entertained.

I , myself will probably be keeping my Droid as well, but you never can tell, if they root the X I may get it, then again, when the incredible is more readily available, I may go there.. But as for now, long live the original Moto Droid!

I know for a fact I am keeping mine for a while. I used my NE2 to get this phone, so I ma gonna have to fork over a lot of cash to get a replacement - and there is no way I am gonna do that until I get another phone that is running a nice, untouched, virgin OS like the DROID was.

Even if I have to switch from VZW to another carrier. But, that will only happen once my DROID can no longer keep up with the Joneses. Until then, DROID FTW.

Sorry, but this has been proven to not be the case for several days now.

Still, when all is said and done, the phone that provides the most freedom to the user is the original Motorola Droid. This is the phone that made rooting easy and painless, that provided a launching pad for numerous roms, themes and other tweaks that serve to enrich the experience of using your device - to truly make it YOUR device.

You just can't beat that.
