true. i took some pics of some friends in a pub. the flash made everything way too bright. and without the flash, way too dark. maybe an app would help? i know the flash can be blindingly bright.
like any other camera, you must learn how to use the white balance and ISO settings to achieve the best picture based on the lighting available. (there are more settings, but these are the 2 most common on our phones)

take a quick read here
What is ISO on your digital camera, how to use ISO settings

so learn to balance your settings, and take better pics

you might find urself changing them often when taking pics, but thats the trade of for taking good pics. our EVO has the options, USE THEM

The camera does great work in really bright light. Get a bit duller/darker spaces and the camera poops out.

I have yet to experience this "pooping out" of the camera people keep talking about. The point and shoot functionality of the still camera has yet to disappoint me. Between adjusting settings and correcting user error, i think this camera blows away most of the point and shoot cams i've used in the passed. To me that says alot being that it's just a camera on a cell phone.

Heh, i'm still trying to find a way of taking pics of my phone in it's case for a review. Since i've been using the camera in the phone, the point and shoot cam we usually use just doesn't make the cut anymore, i'm spoiled now lol

really loved going over these setting. will definitely check them out next time i'm shooting. i have been leaving my somewhat cheap point and shoot digital cam and using this instead. loving it!!!

Well maybe I am doing it wrong then because I find that if I am not outside in bright daylight the camera totally bites. Like I try to take a picture of anything that is not sitting perfectly still and it will blur horribly with no flash and when no flash is really needed. For instance inside taking a picture of a 3 year old who is moving just slightly turns him into a pink blur lol. Can anybody tell what setting I am not using correctly?

You're not alone. I was taking pictures of my daughter and she was only slightly moving and the pics came out blurry. I had to keep telling her to stop moving just so i could get a good pic. All these camera settings that people talk about are fine and dandy, and i realize that its a cell phone and not a camera, but i know i've had better pictures on a lessor phone, and didnt need to adjust anything. The auto settings should be so general that it takes the best available pics. All of those adjustments should be for people who want to be camera pros and get professional looking shots. All i want is a nice pic of my kid...lol...
