Gmail issue... thoughts?

I'm sure someone is going to put me in the "duh" position, but I've searched these forums quite a bit and can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue.

I'm using the Gmail app on my Moment, linked to the same account that I use on my home PC. About 50% of the time, when I create or reply to an e-mail, it sends a carbon copy right back at my Gmail address.

It's worth noting that when I receive these e-mails, there's no CC to me under the person I sent it to... that is, it looks as if I just sent an e-mail to myself. My mail does get through to the addressee, but its rather irritating having all these CC's cluttering my inbox.

Any suggestions?

I think I saw a checkbox earlier for CC emails in my handset earlier - I'll ferret around and see if I can see it again.

I don't think this is an Android app issue. This happens even if you use the Gmail web interface and send an email to someone via that. You will find that when you sync Outlook, those Gmail messages sent via another app (eg. Gmail web interface, Android Gmail app, etc) will appear in your Outlook Inbox.

I think it's to do with IMAP synching the sent items folder on Gmail's servers (which would have your sent items in it which you sent via non-Outlook apps) and Outlook then saying that's a valid new email.

I don't know about that. I've used Gmail for 5 years now, almost 6, and have used it with dozens of 3rd party apps and devices and have never once had this problem.

I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist because I'm sure it does, but I don't think it's as simple as the problem being that you're syncing with other apps.

My guess is that somewhere, like in Gmail, it's set to CC/BCC you or to save a copy of the mail in your Inbox.

I was having a similiar problem with my HTC Wildfire. If I sent an email from the phone ( or from gmail web) then the next time I checked my emails on my laptop or pc (using thunderbird) I would have a copy of the previously sent mail in my thunderbird inbox as new mail.

I then went through all sorts of settings on my phone and on the gmail web account with no satisfactory success. In the end I just updated thunderbird (to 3.1) then deleted my gmail account off it and re-added it from scratch. Hey-presto, problem solved.

(of course if you delete and re-add, you have to make sure you have IMAP enabled in your online GMail settings)

The problem is as I indicated. Here is a possible fix:

The issue is simply that when you sync your Outlook with Gmail, the Sent Items folder on your Gmail account (where any messages that you sent via a non-Outlook connection to Gmail) is synched by Outlook as it looks for new messages. This includes the Gmail Android App. When you use this app you are storing a sent email in Gmail's Sent Items folder. When you later sync Outlook, it thinks that there is a new message in Gmail even though that message is in the Sent Items folder on Gmail.

Let me put it this way: the combined list of new messages in Gmails Inbox and Sent Items are synched with Outlook and all the new messages appear in Outlook's Inbox folders.

So, to the OP: How do you use Gmail on the PC? Web-based interface? Outlook or some other email client? If an email client, is it setup as POP3 or IMAP? Does the problem happen only on replies you send from your Android device?

I'm using Windows Mail (Windows 7) setup as POP3. Rumbataz posted that fix, which was for Outlook (thank you though, sir), and I couldn't find a similar option in Windows Mail.

The only option I can find in G-mail is to "keep, archive, delete, etc." POP3 accessed messages, but I do want to keep my messages active on G-mail until I manually delete them FROM g-mail. KnowwhatImean, Vern?

Can someone please help me. My gmail emails are not being sent to my gmail account on my phone. I can access them from my pc, but when I get a new email thru gmail it goes to the icon with the @ on the envelope on my phone and not to the gmail. And once I open them and read them it still shows as unread mail. I also need help adding my contacts from my phone to my gmail. I know this is probably childs play for most of you but I just cant figure this out and its driving me CRAZY!! I had the contacts on my gmail, but they were all doubled up, so I just deleted all of them off and I want to start all over again. Thanks for any and all help!
