Accessories Droid X Dock - Gonna Destroy the phone?

How does the docking station affect battery life? I've been told not to leave the phone charging overnight.

I wouldn't think this would make a difference. Chargers for phones are "trickle-chargers", meaning they only start to charge the battery once it's discharged a bit. With every phone I've had I've charged overnight, including the original droid in the dock. No problems yet.

Um, a docking station has nothing to do with battery life :D

You'll get a possible "trickle charge" if you leave it. I have left all my phones, over the many years, plugged in overnight.

Where did you hear this don't leave on the charger myth?

thats what she said.

but i agree, at first it was a tight fit... now i can almost put it in with one hand, i keep hitting the camera button though.

Yeah, same here LOL.

Trickle charge overnight is probably the best thing you can do to get the last little bit out of your lithium ion battery.

This isn't nimh (nickel metal hydride) technology from years ago, lol. I'm so amazed at the mis-information on the internets these days.

I have the new Droix X Dock. It's a tight fit! I think the dock with it's protruding plugs has some problems in mating with the phone and eventually you'll end up with either the dock or phone broken,,, or both!
Thoughts and comments?
I returned mine yesterday for that exact same reason. Didn't want to fight mounting it. Downloaded the DockRunner app from the market and it does the EXACT same thing, and it's FREE!

I can confirm that after awhile of inserting and removing from the media dock it does loosen up to where it's easier to remove. But yes some type of lever to pop it off would definitely have been a nice feature. It's annoying that you have to hold the dock down with one hand while you pop the phone off with the other...

On a somewhat related note... they got the car dock right in this respect. It is a much easier fit and also allows you to pop the phone off with one hand, although I suspect that it has a lot to do with the fact that the car dock doesn't have the HDMI port on it lol.

Is anyone having the same issues as with the original Droid? That being that when you use the dock as a bedside clock, it does not dim and will just be a beacon of brightness while trying to sleep? That was the biggest gripe with the old dock. It should dim and preform more like a clock with just the time being lit.
Have you tried a screen brightness app from the market? You can set it down to the level of dimming you like on the main home screen and then it will be the same on the dock screen when you switch it.
