Right Behind You
I'm looking for a rom with a couple of specific features and I can't find it. I'm wondering if I am just not looking in the right places or if what I want doesn't exist. I more or less want what is in Evil Eris 3.0, but I want the bottom dock of launcher pro. Is that even possible? Does it exist out there someplace?

More or less. All I really care about from LP though is the bottom dock on the home screen to replace the sense one.

So this at the bottom of the screen instead of the Sense bar.

Federico just released Launcher Pro Plus and is adding sense type widgets to it, which is cool, but all I really want is the bottom dock.

I don't believe that anyone has figured out to manipulate the sense dock bar to that extent. I believe they've only been able to change the look slightly but that's all. What sense widgets can you not live without? I have found some decent widgets for some but not all. Also xtrROM3.03 has some sense still built in such as the music player with the lockscreen, so if you can find replacements for the widgets you could use it. That is what I loaded on my wife's phone.

...will all my apps still be there when I flash a new ROM or do I need to redownload them again?
I actually prefer the old-fashioned method: Pen and paper

This way, I look at the list and say "I only used that once. I'm not re-installing it."

In my case, I apparently don't have a lot of apps compared to most. My PCs are the same way though... I go through add/remove a lot.

Don't be afraid to move away from Sense :D I was the same way, I really liked the HTC widgets, but it's possible to get sufficient replacements. I think you'll see a speed/performance improvement w/o Sense too.

Well, ever since root and a2sd I have a bunch of apps that I use on occasion along with my constant use apps. The ability to have so many apps may lose it's appeal after awhile, but right now I am loving it. I will probably do the app brain option though, just to make sure I have everything.

I think Sense has kind of spoiled me in some ways. I really think that Launcher Pro Plus gets all of it's "Sense" widgets I'll be good to go though and may try things without Sense for more than just a day.

Well LP is NEVER going to be for use with the sense widgets-Sense is kinda the iOS of android...they would never let their widgets be used w/o the whole package.

if your looking for something with a sense feel though you may want to try out suave sense. it uses ADW, but thats easily replaced with LP, though you will lose a lot of the theme.

Quick question on this, I know that doing a Nand backup will save everything the way it currently is on my phone. Since I am using a2sd now though, will all my apps still be there when I flash a new ROM or do I need to redownload them again?

I've not tried this so can't speak from experience, but I believe you'll want to use nand+ext to make sure and get the apps off your SD card.

no.

the eris doesnt have a kernel that supports ext4 which is needed for that.
what you CAN do is this though.

1. backup your sd card to your computer
2. partition your sd card like normal-amon ras recovery image etc
3. copy all your files back to your sd after you finish partitioning.
4. select other from the recovery menu
5. choose move apps+dalv to SD
6. find a rom that has a2sd enabled by default-most of them do but check to make sure first.
7. flash that rom and once it boots all of your apps should be back!

^that method was tested a while back by another user on here when apps2sd was the new big thing. i can PROMISE that it still works-too many different methods of a2sd to test it all on, but it did work on tkirtons darktremor a2sd back in the day.

LP will never be able to be used with sense but the new LP Plus will soon have sense-like widgets.

Right now there is only the People widget but Fede is working on a bunch of others!
This is the small version of the People widget (there is also the 4x4 widget as well):

I just tried this rom last night and I'm having issues with the partition. My main method of transfer is via dropbox. The problem is the things I download from dropbox are no longer seen in any other program. For instance, the mp3s I download no longer show up in the music program on ringdroid. The images I download don't show up in photos. Is there something I'm missing?

Are you leaving the files in the dropbox folder, or moving them to their 'normal' folders?

The "folder" in the Dropbox application is a virtual folder. The files listed there are still on Dropbox's servers and have to be downloaded to the phone before they can be used. Then again, I know a guy who has all of his MP3s in his Dropbox account and points his phone at it and can stream them.

ADW Launcher allows you to change the apps that open in the bottom dock bar. I like it better that LP IMHO. It actually hides a second dock bar behind it that you can access by flicking the dock bar up, you can add 6 more apps there. For a total of 10 frequently used apps. ADW Launcher comes as part of KaosFroyo v23, if you don't want Froyo it's also free in the market.
