Help couple questions

Hello I am brand new to android coming from blackberry and palm. I just purchased a Samsung Moment and got a couple questions here. First off is there a browser that supports flash? Second is the 2.1 firmware the latest firmware? Only asking because I thought I read while researching the phone that the latest update would allow pinch to zoom which my phone does not.

First off welcome to Android Forums, you chose the perfect place to learn everything Android. To answer your questions 2.1 is the latest firmware, and unless you root the phone its going to be the last firmware. Secondly for the flash Android only has a lite flash player which does basic flash in the stock android browser.

Thanks for the welcome! My phone says I have firmware 2.1 yet I have no flash on the default browser. Am I supposed too? Also just a couple of quick questions.......how do I add a specific ringtoneor message tone to a contact or even voicemail for that matter? When I go into the menu in these areas I am usually only offered the default ringtones despite havcing put ny own folder of mp3s on the fone via usb. And also so that means what I see is what I get? {Not that that's a bad thing cuz I'm enjoying my moment}. Np more updates for the moment ever?

ok well here you go.....2.1 doesn't and will not get full flash but if you download dolphin browser you can get a full browser like on you comp for the most part.for ringtones again go to the market and download ringtone extended it will let you put whatever song on your phone as a ringtone/message tone..and finally yes 2.1 will be the last update the moment gets as it is end of life.

But to really answer his question on ringtones is while in a contact, tap Menu then Options then use ringtone extended to select the ringtone.

well no more official updates, but if you root your phone we will probably be able to squeeze a few more updates in thanks to the people at SDX!!

Sounds good. I had my phone overclocked with the Palm Pre. Im gonna wait a little while to mess with all that on this phone though as Im enjoying it right out of the box....speed and all. Now this Ringtone extender is it just letting me use other files as ringtones and thats the point of it only? How do I set specific message alerts (for contacts, voicemail, different apps etc) or is this not possible? Also I downloaded Dolophin HD and it is slightly faster than the stock browser but for the most part i dont see the difference lol.

Yeah I have a hard time noticing huge differences in all the different browsers. Personally I just use Opera on mine, but thats just because I am a fan of it on the computer. Yeah once the phone grows normal you should definitely root it and put on a custom Rom. Yes the extender lets you use other files for the ringtone and Im not sure on the different alerts, my phone is usually on vibrate.

i like ringdroid... is free and in the market, and you can take ANY sound file from your SD and custo crop it into a ringtone or notification.

i currently have the chorus of Ween's 'Voodoo Lady' as my primary ringtone

Don't know that you can have a different alert tone for messages for each contact, but yes for each app you can.
