With all the talk in this forum of SD cards & class differences, I thought this was worth passing along . . . (Available free in the Market)
I came across this app & tested my SD card.
Sure enough it detected my Class 6 card, etc.
SD Card Speed Tester - Android app on AppBrain
I'm using a Centron 16GB Micro SD HC card 27% full

. . . I am going to insall my new 32gb card I got from Verizon this afternoon and compare

I just recieved my 32GB card from Verizon, immediately put it into my phone & ran the test. Looks like it's currently transferring like a Class 6, but we'll see if that changes once I fill it up with movies.
This card is a SanDisk 32GB Class 2 MicroSD HC card 0% full

I have a 16gb Class2 I got off deal a day for $15 shipped and I got
Write 5mbs
Read 13mbs
It says it's on par of a class4

I am going to insall my new 32gb card I got from Verizon this afternoon and compare

Just tested my ($37 thank you Verizon ha)32gb card with pretty much the exact things that were on the 16gig minus about 50mb of pictures I took off and didn't get as good of results as I hoped but not too bad
Write 6mbs
Read 8mbs

The write is nice to have slightly faster but the read speed is more important to me. Kind abumbed out that it is significantly slower
It's saying it's equivlient to a Class6

im starting to think i should have just bought the 16 gb class 2 instead og the 8gb class 6 for the same price... i feel i need more room instead :(

Try the barter section of craigslist . . . there's a recent article on gizmodo where a 17 year old boy "bartered" starting with a gifted cell phone and worked his way through up to a Porche . . . I imagine in a day or two you could barter up to a 16GB card :D

ha , mine has "unknown" no info at all.
must be one or more apps accessing the card
I could tell by the time it was taking to read/write 300mb to card.
oh well, not important enough to me to go through and disable all apps

Try scrolling up, I thought mine wasn't showing anything, and the results were off the top of the screen, lol.

It's an aData 16g class 6, gets 8m/12m, not too bad :D.

wow i think i got a 'bad' card.

on the one that came with the phone (about 80% full) i got write 4mb and 10read quite regularly.

got a samsung 8gb class six off play.com and the speeds have varied but mostly under 6mb write and 10-12mb at 80% full.

when i put it in brand new and just formatted i got 9mb write and 14 read.

surely it can be that much of a difference whilst filled with files?!

no, my first test the class was"unknown" , prob meaning some app was using card, maybe my backup was running.
just ran it again: 3.0 write 15.0 read class 2 ,this is an 8GB card that I got back in lg voyager days voyager>dare>omnia>dinc so still acceptable considering age and re-writes/formats the card has gone through.
