New Plans for T-Mo carry no Discounts.

I called in T-Mobile today to see what and how Project Dark would affect me.
I currently have:
2,000 minute family plan with unlimited nights and weekends, $99
Unlimited T-mo to T-mo
Unlimited txt, $10
2 data plans at $25 ea. = $50
Four total lines. $10 ea. add. line = $20
A month I spend $180 on phone services without taxes.

After calling the very friendly T-Mobile rep and hearing how their new pricing scheme would affect me and “help” me reduce my costs the rep told me based on my usage I would need the 1500 or Unlimited plans. With 2000 unlimited we sometimes hit 1,700 or 1,200 or even close to 2,000 a month. It really fluctuates between months and business.

So after advising her I would need the unlimited EVERYTHING PLUS.
2 Line with Unlimited data, voice and text is $140
2 lines with just voice is (30 ea.) $60.
My cost would be $200, which would be $20 more.

However, I had a 15% discount through my school, which would bring the price down to $170 + taxes a month.
Sadly, she told me since the plans are "so heavily discounted we can't give our customers any discounts."
This is pretty unfortunate because I'm looking at reducing my bill and getting the most out of it. I really do not need unlimited everything. However, based on their new pricing scheme and lack of flexibility on their new prices I’m forced to go with unlimited plans. For now I will stay with T-Mobile until I'm able to transfer my contract line. The other three expire next month.

So it looks like my corporate discount should still work I get 15% (I think).

But even so, originally the cheapest plan for android before discounts was $55/mo
now it is $69/mo after discounts it will be $59/mo
this isn't getting better...

So I looked in to verizon, their cheapest looks like it will be $79/mo before discounts and $63/mo after...

So, f tmo, I think I'm gonna get a Droid, I'll pay that little for an upgrade to their network, sadly, even though I am almost morally against Verizon.

I just logged in to the T-Mobile Premiere site and it still says

A 15% discount off your monthly recurring fee based on corporate-wide use of T-Mobile products & services*

*Rate plan prices listed here do not reflect the discounted fee. Discounts are applied on your monthly bill based on corporate-wide use the prior month.

And it only lists the "Even More" plans

And if I try to get a myTouch I can only get "Even More" and I am forced to choose $30 or $40 for the data/sms plan thing.

But since it is late, I didn't call in to confirm it would work, but I assume it would, and even if it did, it would be so more more expensive compared to the old prices that it doesn't seem worth it to me any more.

Sup guys, about a week ago I did all the math. based on a 2 line plan with 1500 mins unlim data and text over a two year period we will save almost 700 dollars. you have to do the math as to what you are paying now and what you would pay and you must include the phone price you would pay.

I determined if I was to pay full price for the phone i would still save more then 700 dollars vs paying a little more the the "even more" plan and getting the so called "phone discount"

Hi Guys,

This is my first post in this forum. So...frankly I am a little surprised to hear people aren't smitten with T-Mobile:) I mean, I have been with Sprint since 1997 and pretty content. Lately though, I find myself shopping new service and phones. I thought T-Mobile was really up there in service and support. Is it? One thing that blew my mind though was their new TV commercials in which they promise lower plan prices--which in itself is true. But when I went to their website and found out that to get one of those fabulous new low-cost plans, I would have to pay full retail for the phones?!? What a joke. I think my momentary brush with T-Mobile is fading fast-especially after reading this thread. I do welcome any feedback you guys might have. Lately, Sprint calls have been dropping, something that really never happened before. So, I AM shopping.
Thanks!!

first - i was with sprint for way too many years, left em in 2003 - reason - customer svc, when i needed it, it always took 30 - 60 minutes on the phone to get thru to the right person - and every 2- 4 months there'd be a major billing error on my phone that i would need to straighten out. I finally recognized the cost of that time spent on the phone with them and left for Tmobile. But before switching though, i called tmobile at least a dozen times over 2 weeks, calling into their customer svc line to see how big a delay i'd experience and most it took to get a real human was 2 - 3 minutes. and that's still true today - maybe one time it took 6-7 minutes on a friday night which i assume is a busy night.

as to plan cost - something you guys might want to know - all the carriers are suffering huge customer losses because of the economy. I called in to reduce my bill - I'm not on a contract (haven't been since late 2005) but had been paying $129 for two lines, 3000 minute plan + another $20 for data svc, so $149 + taxes a month. the customer svc rep indicated they had an "unpublicized special for customers called their "loyalty plan" - basically, for $88 i get unlimited voice minutes on the same two phones, + $20 for the data svc, also unlimited, so $108 for what i was paying $149 for, plus the addition of upgrading svc to unlimited minutes.

found out every carrier is doing something similiar - if you call in like you're going to leave or reduce svc, they have their "customer retention" plans

obviously, you can't be tied under a contract and the plan they gave me is only good for six months - their descript - we'll see what we'll do in six months - ie if economy is still depressed, it'll renew at same

just thought i'd pass on

Yeah, I did and they gave me a sweet deal.
2500 mins, Fav 5 and unlimited txts for $110 and 2 lines $10 ea.
However, with a G1 they wanted to charge $25 for data and $20 for a SideKick.
$175 w/o taxes add the 15% discount it's $149 (est.)
Sprint is $130 for 1500mins unlimited mobile to mobile w/ "unlimited" data and txts + 2 lines @ $20 each $170.
27% Discount cause of work = $124
Not to mention that every line gets "unlimited" internet and txt messages, Sprint TV and Turn by Turn GPS.
