rooted my desire this morning and Facebook for htc desire came up with this message downloaded a diff rom same message so downloaded the o2 rom again and reinstalled that still same god damn message. created a new facebook account still GOD DAMN SAME MESSAGE! please for my sanity can somebody please help me!!!!

Have you tried verifying on a pc that its not a facebook issue?

well thats why i set up a seperate account i figured if it was my account a new one would have no such issue and in both accounts on facebook the privacy settings are set to allow htc sense

Have you tried clearing the cache on the phone for facebook
settings/applications/manage applications scroll through & find the facebook app select it & if its a light clear cache

try rebooting your phone, failing that only other solution is the factory reset
back up using titanium back up to save your apps etc

Just checked facebook on my phone & its all working fine on my phone.
I am using this rom, don't know if you fancy trying it you may have more luck.

I'm having the same problem. I did the HTC Hero 2.1 upgrade a few days ago, and it was working fine, so it's not that. I JUST changed the password about an hour ago, and since then, it won't work, even when I put in the new password. I've tried turning off the phone

I know it's an old thread, but i was having the same problem with my htc desire hd for last two weeks and i believe i have found a solution.
My facebook for htc sense wouldn't synchronize just giving me red exclamation mark for some time, and i decided to get my phone back to default settings. After that when i was reconfiguring it when i tried to add my facebook account, i got the very same message that you did.

I went to facebook page on my computer, into app settings and deleted htc sense from apps. After that when i hit try again on my DHD it connected with no problem. So maybe that the way to do it. Cheers.
