Help link facebook friend photo with contact?

Is there a way to link your Facebook contact with this phone like the HTC sense ui so that the contact have a fb photo instead of a blank face?

I tried to facebook account login in settings already but no go

I just figured out how to do this, although it does take a bit of time if you've got lots of contacts and Facebook friends. There may be a MUCH easier way of doing this, but it worked for me.

1. Start the CONTACTS app.
2. Click on "Contacts" at the very top.
3. Pick a person in your contacts list who is also in your Facebook friends. Select their name and it opens their entry in your phone's contacts list. For this, we'll select "John Smith." (How original!)
4. Touch the MENU button in the very bottom left of the phone.
5. Select "Link Contact"
6. At the top, select "Get Friends"
7. Select your Facebook account. (If you don't see it, you'll have to be sure your phone is logged into your Facebook account.)
8. Your phone will pull up all your friends from your FB friends list. Although you're technically only trying to link John Smith, go ahead and select all the friends you want to import to your phone altogether. (Or just select all at the top.) This will save you a couple steps later.
9. Click "Save" at the bottom.
10. After a few seconds or a minute's worth of "importing," the phone will go back a screen. Here you will see all your imported Facebook friends that you just imported. Scroll down to "John Smith" and select that Facebook profile to link it to your phonebook entry.
11. An AMAZING feature here is that when the phone imports all your friends from Facebook, it automatically links your phone contacts with their Facebook profile IF they have either the same exact name, or the same phone number or other similar contact info.
12. For those that don't automatically link, repeat steps 1-10, omitting steps 6-9 since you've already imported them from Facebook.

Afterwards, if you go back to the phone's contacts list and click the MENU button in the bottom left, you can select View Options, then select "View only entries with phone numbers." This is good in case you just imported a bunch of people who don't have phone numbers in Facebook...otherwise just junk to scroll through when you're actually looking for a phone number.

This is a really neat feature, I'm still tinkering with it to get it all nice and prettied-up.

Go into contacts.. click on setting and more.. click on accounts and go to your facebook account.. turn on sync contacts. After you do this step 7 should show you people.

The thing is, you were fortunate enough to have the Facebook contacts actually download to your phone. The rest of us haven't been so lucky. We get the following error: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Of course, it never does actually come back.

I see my facebook account, but when I select it, nothing happens. However, the samsung friend feed widget and the facebook widget work fine. Am I missing something?

Just curious, do you also have the Facebook app installed?

No, I deleted it not long after buying the phone. I found the Facebook app extremely cumbersome to use, and it had major bugs. For example, if people had commented on a friend's status and I wanted to read the comments, I wasn't able to click on "4 comments" underneath the status. Same for the "Like" function. So, I deleted the app for space sake and am happy to access Facebook Mobile through the web browser. Some people may prefer the apps, but Mobile is what I'm used to and it works for me.

Sorry, I know that's not the real point of what you asked...honestly, the phone was so new (and my first android phone) that I'm not sure what exactly I did that made Facebook show up in step 7. But, here's a possible solution if Facebook isn't showing up:

When you're at step 7, if Facebook isn't showing up, try this:

7a. Click "Add account"
7b. Select Facebook if it's available.
7b-1. If it's not available, click "Add account" at the bottom.
7b-2. Select Facebook.

Again, I discovered this just by playing with it, so it's hard to exactly know how to help (sorry). For what it's worth, mine still gives me that sync error message ("sync not available," or something like that), but it's still syncing my contacts with their Facebook profiles when I'm not looking. :)

Question: did you just select the option for syncing photos to the phone? Or did you also select to import all facebook friends to your phone? (something I don't want to do with 1000+ people on fb in my account?

Anyways, haven't been able to get the phone to sync contacts with FB since I got the phone on the 18th :(

After re-adding my fb account to the phone for the Xth time, it also gives me a black screen when trying to connect... Yay!

Regarding the fb app... there's no contact sync that i'm aware of, so it's not like that will help us sync the photos to our current contacts.

I was finally able to get it to work by going to Contacts -> Menu -> Get Friends -> Add Account -> Facebook. It will ask you what you'd like to sync. You can select all FB friends or choose them individually. I did the latter. It will link them to contacts already on your phone if they have the exact same name. Otherwise you will have to link them manually by selecting the person then going to Menu -> Link contact. It is buggy at times and at first gave me a sync error or wouldn't let me select the friends I wanted to sync.

Now I'd just like to know if there is a way to choose how you want the name displayed. On some of my contacts it has changed their name to match Facebook rather than what I have entered. For example, I may have someone listed as Nick Smith but when I link it to their FB account it changes it to Nicholas Smith which is how they have it entered on there. It seems random how it does this.
