Want the Fascinate, but what to do about pending Bandwith Caps

Looks like verizon intends to put caps on bandwith. I am waiting for the fascinate, but don't want to use verizon if they cap the GBs (would rule out things like phandroid and utube). I am already on a plan with verizon, but there is no data plan. Any way to continue on current data plans?

If you have a smartphone on a current unlimited data plan, you will be grandfathered into it. But once they do the switch, you can never take the unlimited data plan off or it will be gone for good.

Now supposedly CS reps have the ability to re-add a feature/plan within 30(90?) days even if it is no longer offered, but it is a convoluted process that most reps won't even bother with.

I am in the same boat. I an currently rocking a Chocolate 3. My upgrade date is in the middle of August.

I want the Fascinate, but I also want to snag unlimited data before the 4G roll-out.

Any suggestions?
I think that data caps being discussed are for 3G, no one knows what the LTE plans will be and you probably won't be able to add 4G service without a new contract and any relevant terms.

You could see if they will move up your date if you bought a new phone and committed to a new plan now, a lot of people are having success doing that with the DX. Then trade in the phone within 30 days, I believe minus a $35 fee, if you want something else. Whether the Fascinate would be available within that 30 days is certainly not definite.

I think that grandfathering of current data plans, etc. are all just conjecture at this point, as it just about anything related to tiered data plans. Grandfathering of existing 'unlimited' plans is likely but at the same time, it also seems likely that any excuse to implement tiered pricing for those with high data usage would be applied. So if tiered data plans are implemented, then an unlimited data plan may only be allowed to be in place until it expires or until any changes occur.

Good plan, if you don't have it you better get it fast if you want to keep unlimited data.
More recent reports and responses from Verizon representatives seem to now suggest that tiered plans may not happen until having to address LTE service and that some form of 'unlimited' plan would likely still be available if tiered plans were implemented. Until Verizon offers some more definitive statements we'll probably just have to wait and see what actually happens, at least the 29th is less than a week away so the wait for that rumored deadline should be short.

How would it rule out things like phandroid and youtube?
