I just got my MTS a couple of weeks ago and I love it alot! The only thing I don't like about it is that I have to keep uninstalling apps so I have space! That and I keep getting the com.htc.bg force close.... but thats a different problem....

SO... I was thinking of rooting it so I could install apps to the SD.... but I don't want to wait around forever for OTA 2.2

To root or not to root that is the question

I'm not one to leave good enough alone... I've been trying to root my phone for the past day or so and have had mixed results getting to the ClockworkMod Recovery.....

Sometimes chasing something that is going to come your way in the end, doesn't always get you what you want.

But I guess I was unsatisfied with my old phone, which is why I rooted it too, so i understand.

except there is nothing wrong with the phone.

The only thing I didn't like was the User Interface becasue I kept on hitting that stupid tmobile faves button.

A simple adw launcher fixed that for me. And now my phone looks like froyo.

rooting voids warranty, if this is your first time, I would for froyo.

Not worth bricking your phone for something you will get.

And 2.1 is really cool by itself.

Only way to brick the slide is by messing around with radio &/or the spl..

Radio not so much, but there is always the possibility. say to take out the battery while flashing the radio!!

Other than that.. Highly unlikely of bricking it.

What about flashing your phone and your laptop dies?
Or flashing your phone and it goes to sleep?

or flashing your phone and the dog jumps on your desk and disconnected the usb from phone in the middle of flashing?

Or flashing the wrong rom?

Or flashing and doing other things on your computer which use up the ram and causes glitches while flashing the phone.

I'm for flashing, but I'm just scared about losing the warranty. Tmobile will catch on to us some point in time.
