Tapatalk disabled on AF?

I am sure that over time, if we can all be patient, users here will be happy with the improvements, especially knowing that security issues are being addressed.

In addition, I'm betting that Tapatalk may be re-implemented here along with the new Phandroid version in development.

If Tapatalk is not a part of the picture, I'd be surprised, but still confident that users coming to the forums from their hand held devices will be accommodated.

I've noticed the the Admins seem to be very busy, and not online (or publicly active) very much, which means they are probably working very hard to make the site better for us. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to re-activating tapatalk yet, or it may never come back with the new phandroid app.

I am also someone who bought tapatalk as a result of this forum, so here's fingers crossed that it comes back. That being said, maybe the phandroid app will be just as good/easy.

Except it was nothing to do with "competing" and everything to do with security.

That may be true but with reports of the vulnerabilty being fixed and the statement that if Tapatalk functionality were to be re-enabled, the site staff would have to be confident that it was secure. All of these statements are more than fair, but when it seems that the only app secure enough would be one provided by this site, motivations become suspect.

All of these things are certainly within the rights of the people actually laying out most of the cash to keep this community going and I am always thankful for that and donate when I can. I still hope that if a competing product is made, it is actually better because of its own merits instead of an artificial edge that really does little for the android community at large.

LOL, do you have some sort of active search enabled? You are like Asmodeus or something. Since you are one of the most prolific posters, an app dedicated to these forums is akin to giving you a microphone. :p Remind me not to say your name three times in front of a mirror with the lights off. There are movies about that sort of thing.

1. Haven't read all this.

2. I know they've released updates/patches.

3. Yes, all this is a ruse to force users to see our ads and use only OUR product, that isn't even released!

4. It's more than just user passwords at stake. Can you imagine if someone got hold of mine or Robs?

I'm sorry that our decision has caused an inconvenience. :( I know users went out and bought the product and a couple may have bought it solely for AF. And that sucks! But, hang on to it, there are other forums that use it that you may begin to frequent one day!

It took me forever to convince Rob to install it to begin with. Then this hit which further solidified his personal desire to not have it around. And I'm not, after this scare of MY password being a target, about to try to convince him to bring it back.

We do apologize.

So you're saying that no matter how much security is beefed up and updated, Tapatalk will not be permitted on Androidforums.com?

I've noticed just in the few weeks that I've had the app that I am frequenting this forum less than what I used to....this used to be my first stop. Obviously if I'm at a computer I have no need for TT, but if I'm at work or running around it comes in handy. I also don't see myself adding an additional app (launcher) just to visit one site.

Your security concerns are probably valid and I'm sure everyone is appreciative, or should be, of your precautions. I'm left wondering how all of the other sites that still allow Tapatalk access are handling their security concerns....

I wonder what the site management will do when a security vulnerability is found in the app they create.

Are you really wondering that?

It's easy to stop wondering; the most prominent thing pointed out by Phases and other staffers in this thread and another one on the same subject is that they want security first, for all of us.

Knowing that, how can one wonder what would be done if an exploit or vulnerability emerged in the new software?

They'd pull it and get going on fixing it.
