Just trying to get an idea of what issues/problems everyone is having to see if the issues posted are actually widespread of relatively rare.

- GPS accuracy
- Battery life
- Signal strength
- Lag/Poor responsiveness
- Facebook Sync not working properly
- USB drive connection (Computer doesn't recognize)
- Accelerometer slightly off

1. GPS, I did have issues but there's a super easy fix on this forum, took like 30 seconds.

2. Battery life has gotten better over the last 3 days. I also downloaded "Jucedefender" from the market and it helps some. Free app.

3. Signal Strength is ok, it does drop a bar or 2 sometimes, but my call quality is perfect, way better than my 3gs IMO. Never had a dropped call.

4. This is fixed by getting "Launcherpro" off the market. IMO it looks better, is customizable, way faster, and free.

5. Totally random, sometimes it does sometimes not, doesn't really bother me so I haven't looked into it. It did update all my pictures in my contacts and stuff so I know it does work.

6. Never had that problem. Just install the SDK drivers, and the Samsung drivers and you're GTG. I'm also on W7 x64 which seems most people have problems with, I dont know if it's a user error or what.

7. I haven't noticed it playing Home run battle 3D, sniper vs sniper, or Asphalt 5.

These are just my observations/opinions.

For me Launcher Pro improved things quite a bit, but the device still has a tendency to hang or lag quite often especially more than the Droid or Nexus One that I had previously.

Yea I still do notice some lag every once and a while but it's not bad. I'm pretty sure an update is all it's going to take.

As far as battery life....it's really going to depend on what you're doing and who you ask. One person is going to say it has horrible battery life but they play games on it and watch videos on it for like 3-4 hours and the next person is at work all day and plays a game during lunch or gets on the net and says it has good/great life. Personally I unpluged my phone at 9am used it to make 5-6 phone calls (About an hour total), about 150 texts, a couple youtube videos, used Pandora while running errands (not charging in my car), and played about 45 min to an hour of Home run battle 3D with misc browsing on the net and at 2am I'm at 25% battery.
Donno if that helps any but its better than saying "It's Bad" or "Amazing!"

Hope it helps.

Just tried to use RunStar today and it took like 3 minutes to get a GPS lock outside in a clear sky then it didn't even track properly, it shows 1.5 miles over 30 minutes when it should be a much longer distance. I didn't think there was a GPS issue until today, but there clearly is one.

Just realized MMS isn't working, but it might just be my phone since I haven't heard anyone else mention it. I can't send one though.

I only have the Facebook app sync issue.

This is my 3rd android phone though, so many of the problems in the poll, I know how to counter.

Im curious what the signal issue is? I did a speed test vs my friends moto droid

when i had 2/5 bars, Id get 2.5-3.0 mbts/sec and he got 500kbts/sec with 4/5 bars

EDIT: as i just posted this, my facebook sync worked.

I just removed the account i had and re added it...weird....but I am happy now :)

The GPS thing is really frustrating me. GPS plays a big role in what I intended to use this phone for.

The signal issue is horrible too. My 6yo phone gets better reception everywhere. I've not once seen the "3G" symbol light up on the Captivate.

Another big issue not mentioned is the sound sync in videos... started playing with videos for the first time and this is immediately noticeable. I intended to use the Captivate as a portable movie player. This throws a wrench in that.

That's because Verizon's 3G network is the slowest in the country. The problem is that the phone has poor signal strength and occasionally no signal when the phone is held in a poor signal area. The same one that no other AT&T phone in my house has never had.

I'm also experiencing MMS failure.

Here's my list (in no particular order):

* Application Lag (the phone appears to freeze from time to time)
* USB Connection Issues (when I plug the phone into my computer the initializing usb screen flashes then dies and goes back to the home screen, this continues in an infinite loop) (this one really yanks my chain...)
* GPS Takes for ever to track.
* Poor signal strength
* Problems sending MMS messages on 3g network and will not send ANY mms messages while on the edge network. (this is unacceptable since I live in edge land...)
* Facebook syncing issues. (it worked at one time but no longer...)
* Contact list is a freaking mess, how in the world are we supposed to manage the spaghetti?

I'm sure there are more but those are the ones that burn me the most. If anyone has any useful suggestions please send them my way.

Thanks,
Matt

Make sure you guys are letting Samsung know and not just assuming they know...see link in sig.
They know. I spoke with support yesterday and he said they are readying a fix, but he isn't sure when they'll release it and that it might just be bundled with Froyo which he said prob won't be released until September at the earliest.

GPS=Fail
Speed (laggy)=Fail
Syncing=Fail
Browser=Fail
Bottom Buttons=Fail
Poor signal=Fail
Support=Fail
Allshare=Fail
Battery Life=Fail

I really wanted to like this phone, but so far, after 4 days, I am so frustrated with it that I am almost 100% sure its going back.

Edit: Exchanged for a second Captivate:

GPS: Working (mostly)
Speed: great
Syncing: Works (had a corrupted driver)
Browser: Working great
Bottom Buttons: Work fine (I wish i could set the lights on them to stay on longer)
Signal: About the same as my other phone (iPhone 3g)
Support: Still kinda sucks. But havent needed it recently
Battery: 20+ hours of moderate use (blue tooth and wifi always on)

Pretty happy with my second one. Unless it blows up on me, Im keeping it.

So others are having issues MMSing with these phones.

I tried to send a pic via MMS to 2 people yesterday and nada.
One has an LG Neon phone, the other has an IPhone.

I KNOW the Iphone can receive MMS.

Cmon Samsung.. This half-assed crap is making me reconsider
an Iphone 4 and frankly, I'm tired of Steve's deathgrip on my balls.
