Audio files not wanted in media player

I'm still trying to get to grips with the folder/filing system of the Desire's SD card.

I have yet to put any of my own MP3's onto the phone but have put on a few short audio clips which I created at work. These were on the phone mainly so I could transport them home but I also occasionally play them from the phone

However I don't want them cropping up amongst music in the music player app/widget, but it seems no matter where I put them on the SD card they appear. The only exception is if I put them in media => ringtones which isn't ideal.

Are there any other places where i can put them where they won't be found by the media player?

If you got a pc & card reader you could try putting a folder on the card & name it shorts, then put a folder inside that one & name it tracks.
Put your short music clips in there, that may do the trick

Make a txt file named .nomedia (including the .) on a pc and drop it into the folder the sounds are stored it. This SHOULD stop the sound files appearing in the music app.

That just creates another album called 'shorts' with the audio clips in.

It does look like it includes any audio clip on the card

I suppose thats the thing with a media player its designed to ferret out music files, just a matter of finding a way to trick it though

Agreed. For me, this is a Massive oversight that I'm sure could be easily Recitified i.e a tick box format next to the folders in question to either add to the app or ignore from it.

if you were to reboot and it would re-scan your media and not find the files with the .nomedia file in it.

There`s also an app that rescans without you having to reboot
