Hello all Phandroids! Just a few comments I'd like to share.
I am pumped about Android, both in it's present form and in it's future potential. It's an already very impressive OS and will continue to get better with the help of the developers and Phandroids.

I am convinced,....it will dominate.
I am an (old) American ExPat currently retired and living in Asia (Thailand). I'm pretty savvy on tech stuff in spite of being an old fart. Yes, I've done DOS. Ha !:p
My first 'smartphone' was an O2 XDA II that I bought in Hong Kong in 2005 with WinMo 2003 on it. I liked it well enough, but it was stolen on the metro in Shenzhen. I replaced it with the O2 Mini and liked it also,...except for it's bug of shutting down due to a problem with battery contact with the back case.
It continued to be a serious and very frustrating problem. I no longer have that device...I killed it...out of utter frustration.
Yes, it shut down and (always) required a complete cold bootup...just one too many times.
I've been checking out newer smartphones for a while now...and found HTC and Samsung Andriod devices. I will be getting one,...but just which one I don't know as yet.
I was really pumped about the EVO,...only to have my hopes crushed when I discovered it doesn't do GSM.

I like HTC's UI (Sense) but it doesn't come on the Samsung Galaxy S which I also like. It looks as if I'll hold out for a unit with a 4" screen (at least), 2.2 (FroYo), and it would be great if I could have something as good as or 'Sense' UI. A unit with a damn good screen 4" (Super)(Amoled) and a good amount of internal memory built in.
So,...all you Phandroids,....any suggestions?
Should I wait for the HTC HD (Ace)?

Welcome!!!!! Glad to have ya!
If you require a gsm phone then your options are somewhat limited. really like that new samsung from at&t but for me its all htc incredible. love the sense ui.

Thx 4 the 'Welcome' ! :)
Which Samsung model is that you're referring to (from AT&T)?
You're liking your Incredible huh? Good for you.
So, you'd recommend HTC or Samsung?

Thanks again for all the 'welcomes' and tips.

I got the Samsung Galaxy S International version (16Gig). I've had it a couple of weeks now and I'm loving it. The 4" Super Amoled display is awesome!
I've already loaded some of the best apps including:
Launcher Pro
Dolphin HD browser (Blue)
Astro file manager
XE Currency
To-do List
Engadget
and Star Wars Sounds....and I've got R2D2 letting me know about notifications !

I enjoy browsing thru the forums and of course the SGS forum is my favorite.

Cheers to all !
