Possible cheap fix for fm tuner

I'm going to pick one up tonight or tomorrow.. Also hoping that with this adapter I can plug it in at my desk (adapter only) and use the speaker of the evo and still get full reception of the fm tuner so that I don't have to keep headphones plugged in with long wires. Since the adapter is only 2.5 inches long would make it very convenient

Ok so I just picked this up and well it works...i was using auxiliary cable to connect to my head unit and just got static same with headphones... But with this little adapter it works very well with both headphones and auxiliary cable it has really improved the reception..

It makes the whole TRS vs. TRRS very true!

Ps... Only downside,
Can't just user the adapter only to get god reception

I ordered an adapter like the radio shack version off of ebay ... did not improve my reception one bit.

Could be that it was a $0.99 Chinese made version. At least it was just $0.99 and the shipping was free. Was worth a shot... lol

I really wonder why I am bothering with it. I could always just use my 5-yr old Creative Zen M if I want to listen to FM. Then again, I will still use the Zen for music as well since it sounds great. I guess it is just the principle of the thing. :)

Just fyi...
On the adapter that I got at radio shack it has 3 bands on it where as my aux cable and headphones had only 2 bands

For some reason the headphone jack favors the 3 band tip..
It just makes a better connection in the right places..
2 bands = trs and is not capable of extending antenna signal.
3 bands = trrs. the extra band is a separator/insulator to create a 4th section that allows the wire to be used as an antenna.
