So I have own an android phone since December but just recently installed the sdk, rooted and been playing around a little. Please excuse me if this is a stupid thread but I just spent an hour making an animated gif, used sdk to push it to my /system/media/bootscreen folder and rename it boot.gif.

When I boot it doesnt show, it just a blank screen until the phone boots.

Anyone have any ideas?

BTW, I know this is corny and looks like its from 1985 but I was just learning GIMP and having some fun.

ALSO THERE IS A CURSE WORD IN THERE IN CASE YOUR SENSITIVE TO THAT SORT OF THING.

http://aivila.com/temp/boot.gif

Any help?

hmmm......... I havent changed my boot animation so Im really no expert on the subject........ but I dont think its as simple as putting a boot.gif on there..........

I think its something like bootanimation.zip (this zip has each frame of the animation ..... and they need to be named and sequenced in a specific manner)... and Im not sure if thats the correct location on your phone either

I would suggest doing some searches either here or over on XDA and finding out what the proper steps and format are........

Im sure some others on here who know much more than I will be happy to give other suggestions and correct me if I am wrong.

LOL... I was just playing around to learn a little more about android. This was something I could do as my first experience with the android sdk.

T2noob, thanks I will check it out. I dont see any zip files in that folder thought... I will read the how to and see what I can come up with.

All you have to do is rename that boot.zip to bootanimation.zip and push it either to the system/media folder or the /data/local folder and then reboot and you will see it as your boot animation.

That worked although the frames seems to be off and it paused in wrong spots, but you got me there. I can now play around with it, thanks a million, this is the way I learn. Thanks again!

Yeah like i said it was a rough version.
It took me like 30 seconds to get it together, so don't expect it to be perfect or even decent lol :)
