verizon droid x at walmart.

I went to verizon and they were out of stock on the droid x and on back order. They wanted $300 with a $100 mail in rebate.

I went to walmart and they had the droid x in stock at their little cellular phone section. Cost was $200 dollars, no messing with mail in rebate, no messing with back order.

Walked out with the phone and went to a verizon store to finish setting up my plan like I wanted it.

Also I wanted to pass on that there may be a deal going now where you can early upgrade for free if you are going from a regular phone to a smart phone through verizon.

Hope this helps someone. :D

Or, you could order it from Wirefly for $180, pay no taxes, get $25 Bing cash back, and have the phone in a day or two. Really, I don't know why people would pay up to $100 more just so they could have their phone a day or two early... Especially if you live in a state that charges tax on the retail price of the device (ala California).

Yea I got mine at Walmart (I work in Connection Center there) on the 16th. We actually got 2 of them in stock on the 14th. Didn't have a single person ask about them on the 15th and I snagged mine on the 16th. The other one got exchanged the same day by a customer that bought his at another Walmart, his earpiece speaker was thrashed so basically we "gave" our other one away.

I got mine at Walmart for full MSRP. What's the best incentive to buying at Walmart at full price? 90-day return policy. :D

If anything comes out within 3 months that really blows me away, I can easily return my Droid X to buy the next one.

... but of course I have to keep it in great condition, which I always do with my electronics.

My local Walmart only received two as well.. I walked in around 9:30 on the 15th and picked up the only one they had as someone who works in the cellphone department bought the other one the night before (and took half the night off from what the other employee's said) :D

And I don't understand people who think others are paying $100 more. It's a frickn rebate. You do know you get your money back.

I was in walmart the other day and i saw the Droid X dummy phone

it was ashame that all the phones(Verizon, Tmobile, and At & T) were all dummy phone

yet they actually had a working model of the iphone 3gs to play with...i was like, wow

I know. Every place but Verizon stores have dummy phones. Even if you steal it they can tag it as a stolen device or trace it back to you.

I'm not talking about the rebate. Wirefly sells the phone for $180. You also can get $25 Bing cashback (it was $50 when I bought my X's). Furthermore, you don't pay any taxes at Wirefly (unless you live in NC or something) (and there's free shipping). So, currently, you can get an X from Wirefly for $155.

If you purchase it from Walmart or wherever, you pay $200 plus tax (in CA the tax is $50). So, the total probably comes to between $220 and $250. Thus, if you would've ordered from Wirefly, you'd say between $65 and $95 dollars. In other words, people are paying about 40% to 60% more so that they don't have to wait a few days for Fedex or because they're like my grandpa and scared to order things online.

My wife and I got X's from Wirefly at about midnight on the 15th. We paid $360 with $100 Bing cash back (which showed up the next day). So we paid $130 each for our phones. If we'd gone to Walmart it would've cost us 92% more.

You may want to look at your receipt. I got mine at Walmart for full price as well, but on the bottom of the receipt it says that Post-paid cellphones have a 15 day return policy.

I asked, since this technically isn't a Post-paid, but they claim that since I didn't go on contract with them, they consider it the same and that any warranty issues outside the first 15 days would have to go through Verizon.

Luckily it's been a good one so far.

Hmmm... the person that I talked with just told me that if it's within 90-days, I could return it. I'll call again and check with them just to make sure. Since Walmart reps aren't exactly very well informed, I'll call several places to hopefully get the same response each time. They never mentioned anything about it being a post paid phone.

Question about buying somewhere other than Verizon - if I buy from Verizon, I get $100 "new every two rebate or discount" plus the $100 rebate for Droid X. If I buy from someone else do I lose the "new every two"? Thanks

Unless they've changed things, the NE2 credit can only be used with VZW themselves. It's up to other retailers if they'll adjust their prices to "match" the credit in order to get your business (most won't). If you do buy from another retailer you don't lose the credit, you just can't use it.

I can't speak for Walmart, but I know BB will honor NE2 discounts. Some BB's may hassle you over it, but all you have to do is contact VZW support, confirm that you are due for your NE2 and have them either speak to the BB Mobile Manager or Supervisor...shouldn't be an issue.

I know Costco based kiosks will also honor NE2 discounts.

refly (unless you live in NC or something)
Wrong chicken-little.

You have to pay taxes in every state for out-of-state purchases (ones that have state sales tax). Its called use tax.

And just because NC is getting strict about it (old news because so is CA and NY), doesn't mean that you still don't owe the money. People think that internet purchases are tax free but that is wrong and has never been the case.

But I understand about the wirefly discount. Too bad as i'll never deal with them again, but glad you got your phones for a discount.
