So I'm an Incredible user and it's my first android. I have stated in other phone discussions/arguments that if verizon had the evo that would be my phone. I prolly wouldn't trade my Inc though, completely satisfied w/ it. That being said I convinced my boss at work who is on sprint to go android by showing off my Incredible. Well he brought in his brand new evo today and all i can say is DAMN that thing is F'n sexy!!!! Is that an amoled cause i couldn't tell if it wasn't. Screen is outta this world!! Funny though, he asked about the translator so i hit the market icon and it asked to accept terms and conditions:eek:. He had phone for 2 days and hadn't even been to market, lol. That cracked me up. I showed him some stuff and didn't want to give it back:rolleyes:. I know there is some trash talking between phones but for real ANDROID FTW!!!! Anyway just wanted to say how bad *ss the evo looked after I finally got one in my hands.
Just my $0.02

Yes, the Evo is really an amazing phone in most every way, but the Incredible is called incredible for a reason. They are both amazing Android phones. As for screens, the Inc has an AMOLED screen so colors are a bit brighter, but that huge Evo screen with its crisp clear images is gorgeous too. I can say that cuz I rock them both!:D

Apparently, "SAMOLED" is the new "retina screen". People are attributing all manner of magic to it:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-epic-4g/132363-got-compared-them-myself-kinda.html#post1224923

Yeah - that weiner's running his mouth and EVO bashing the screen every chance he gets. I've corrected him twice on that whole 16-bit vs. 24-bit color thing - still, he has his opinion, no need of facts.

SAMOLED is pretty cool. So is retinal display. So is ours.

Some people have such insecurities - they want to attribute all sorts of majick to their phones.

soo, why dont you get one?

I would but i'm on verizon. Sprint's service is really lacking in my area. Plus i love my Incredible. What i wasn't expecting was how awesome the evo would look in my hand. Would take some time to get used to the size though, felt GIANT in my hand. Also don't like the $10 4g charge, especially since there is no 4g in my area. That being said I'll reiterate my earlier point. If the evo was a verizon phone, that's the phone that would be sitting on my desk right now.

As an EVO owner who hold the same opinion, I can tell you that your are well respected for stating your true feelings. What do you think about the Droid X which is pretty close to the EVO?

Well let me start by saying i'm NOT a motorola fan at all. Had nothing but problems with any i've had experience with(none were smart phones though). I haven't got a working one in my hands yet so i can't really say. My first reaction was bad, but that was mostly because people were canceling their Incredible orders for it. It was a little of the "my phone is better than yours" syndrome. Then i read this http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/114880-whats-point-bashing-other-android-phones.html . I realized i was being childish, it is very insightful and a way of looking at things that i hadn't thought of. I will be making a trip to the VZW store to check one out but don't think it will compare to the Evo or Incredible. I'm all HTC and love the sense UI.

It's an LCD.

I'm sure if you got in depth w/ it you could tell but in the few minutes i had them side by side the only thing i noticed was how bad *ss the screen was compared to mine. It's funny cause there has been talk of HTC switching from amoled to sony's tft lcd and people are straight trippin about it. I mean REALLY losing it. While i know there are differences i don't think it would take away from how much i love my phone.

Also don't like the $10 4g charge, especially since there is no 4g in my area.

Even with the charge, Sprint's plans are still cheaper than the equivalent Verizon plan, plus, you get unlimited data which isn't even an option on Verizon, so the "$10 4g charge" is completely mute unless you're upgrading from a non-4g phone on Sprint and you're in a non-4g area, making your bill $10/month more on the same network.

Good point. Fact remains that people i know are always complaining about their sprint service. That in of it self would keep me from switching. Plus i really do love my Incredible. Was just so wow'ed by the EVO yesterday i felt i had to share. No offense to sprint users at all but at my job service is bad for everyone, but especially sprint co workers. Not to mention poor sap who has a iphone, he has to exit the building to make/receive a call, lol

All of the various technologies boil down to one thing - these are mobile displays and their uses are as varied as their users - as so people do care about the perceived value of various technologies.

Seriously, though, as bedwetting over technology-type reaches tidal proportions I can't for the life of me see why to care.

I made a point to NOT KNOW what sort of display the EVO had. I avoided the pundits. I walked into the store, put one on order, and when they told me it was in, I told them I'd look at it and then decide. While my local Sprint folks (who are pretty darned good and I like them) were surprised, it made sense to me.

A long chat with one of Sprint's techs while he worked out some problem they had on my Moment's data setup convinced me to go down the EVO path in the first place. We talked about how well things would work on the EVO - not HOW they worked.

Buy the performance that matches your common senses and damn the buzzwords.

Afterwards, I checked up on all of the tech because I was simply curious.

But - that's just me.

Makes sense, myself personally am all about the specs. Love checking out latest pc's/phones whatever and checking the hardware. All things being equal if vzw had an evo and Inc sitting next to each other i would of grabbed the evo, without even knowing they are essentially the same phone minus screen/size. Thanks for the insight though as i enjoy getting different perspectives on things

Some of us (my self included) already have it. HTC had a copy on their site for a bit then removed it. HTC states its not the final build of it.

Due to some very nice people however they hosted it and still continue to host it and allowing people to be testers if you will. Over all i love it. No issues with it other then this version didnt lift the 30FPS cap. Maybe the so called final version will?

Also my Linpack Score has increased 5 fold - MFlops:
2.1 Pre Froyo/ Not Rooted: 6 to 8 average
2.2 Froyo/ Not Rooted: 35 to 40 average

Mmmm Tasty Froyo!

Whats up EVO forums? Did i hear that yall are getting OTA this week?

a build is out but final build will come tomorrow.
regarding Sprint service, yeah it sucks at my house. everywhere else is fine, though, for the most part. their plans are cheap though so you pay for what you get with arguably the best Android phone on the market.

LOL too on the iphone guy. I used to have ATT a while back and to make a good call you always needed atleast 2 bars. If you're down to 1 man forget it. CDMA as long as you have 1 bar quality is still good.

It leaves me hopeful for the incredible to get 2.2 soon. Hopefully Verizon doesn't drag their feet to much with the ota. If htc has ota for evo i would assume the incredible's is right around corner seeing that it is practically no different

So does the $10 charge annoy you so much you would not get the phone even though the total bill on Verizon on comparable plans would be much more?

Well it wouldn't be Much More. I did my homework and the money I would save isn't worth it, FOR ME that is. And in my post i explain that sprint in my area, and my job especially, sucks major balls. Plus i am completely satisfied with my Incredible. And verizon while not the fastest IS the most reliable, in MY area. I am in no way slamming sprint, just saying......

ps, have also said that if the evo was a verizon phone that that's the phone that would be sitting on my desk right now.
