Wife has got a Samsung Galaxy S. Looks OK. Thinking of switching but a few questions/comments :-

1. Technically, Android looks good, and I like the fact that its open source, but there does seem to be a lack of apps at the moment. For instance, I'm used to having mainstream games etc available like Tiger Woods Golf etc on iphone. These dont appear to be available on Android yet. Will this change?

2. Is there any way to convert over my contacts, notes, calendar etc to Android from the iphone?

3. Is there any way to run itunes apps on an Android (an emulator maybe?). Now this would be a clincher for me !!!

Yes, the amount of main stream apps is rapidly changing.

Yes, you can sync your iphone contacts to a g mail account and then use the gmail account to set up your android phone

No, there is no emulator.

1. I was a pretty vocal about how the Android market fails with games. This is very true. However, I've loaded up several emulators, and must say that I've had no desire to play any of my old games. I can wait for publishers to embrace Android and port them over as market share increases, but for now, I'm happy with what I have.

2. Sync phone with computer, computer to gmail account, gmail account to Android. Wha la!

3. No, and again, one of my bigger concerns about Android. I then did a search and saw that not only were most of my non-game apps on the market place, but there were better alternatives for the sweet price of free.

The iPhone 4 is a nice phone. I still might swtich. Android is a nice operating system, and I hope it flourishes. Which ever choice you pick will work out, they're both great.

Cheers.
