How to I backup a non rooted phone?
I want to use something similair to Nokia Suite, if you know it, because its simple, backs up SMS, contacts, apps everything.

Any ideas?

I'm new to all things Android, but a few days ago I picked up MyBackup Pro. It seems to be well-respected and popular. It's simple to use too. I've not had the need yet to restore a backup, but I think it's reasonable to be confident it will do the job. It does back up the items you mention. I think it's $4.99 on the Market, and there's a free version as well.

Does m:IQ encrypt my data before transmitting it? Is it encrypted on your servers? If so, am I the only person who knows the key? If the answer to any of these questions is no, why would I even consider sending my data to you?

When I search mIQ on Appbrain, nothing is found.

These were exactly the same questions that popped into my head as soon as I read the above post from "mIQ Live". People really need to be more careful in general with their personal information, instead of just blindly entrusting it to some third party who just happened to put out an Android app and advertise it on a forum.

Btw, I believe mIQ is backed by Best Buy. Which may or may not be a good thing.

mIQ was great for Windows Mobile and i haven't tried it with Android but I'm currently using:

CallTrack - backs up calls to your Google Calendar
SMS Backup - backs up your SMS to your Gmail account
Lookout - 1.5GB of photo backup (but no video backup)

G-Backup (no longer released) but it backs up your calls, your SMS, MMS, photos, and videos to your gmail account (i have 7.5GB of free space!) but it backs up really slow. I wish someone would take over this app development or make one that backs up to gmail because we all have so much space on our gmail accounts for storage.

Usually when people talk about backup, i hear Nandriod is the way to go. I havent used it myself so i dont know. but thats what i see when the tutorials on Rooting your phone come up.

I am looking for a program that can back up applications which comes with the phone. More specifically, the mini diary app that comes with the Galaxy S (not sure if that is available on other phones as well). As it is right now, neither Astro nor mybackup can backup that particular app. I love using the diary feature of my phone, but it kinda defeats the purpose if the diary gets wiped every time I upgrade my firmware.

I'm curious why you would say this. To me the cloud is the ideal place to backup data assuming it's encrypted like previous posters have said. If I drop my phone off a boat, my backups that are on my SD card are of no use to me. Having to swap out SD cards on a regular basis or sync files to my computer on a regular basis just to have a reliable backup somewhere other than my phone can be a pain to the point where I just won't do it. Backing up to the cloud can be done automatically and it's available everywhere.
