Photo album so S-L-O-W...

I searched and only found one thread that went unanswered 2.1 photo album SLOOW

I've got a whole 174 pix and 40 vids in my photo album and if I dare to try to access/view them I'm penalized with a 5 to 10 minute wait for the darn thing to load before I can see everything. Anyone else have or been through this?

I'm rooted but running 'stock' 2.1 now. I had been running GrdLck's original root ROM but the phone was getting buggy so I attempted the downgrade back to 1.5. When the phone booted back up I had stock looking 2.1 though... Albeit with 'release keys.'

Any help appreciated.

I thought the HTC album viewer had always been slow. I had nearly 250 pictures and it was a pain to navigate through all of them.

I just rooted, installed the White Widow ROM, installed the 2D Android Gallery. Shows all the pictures in a grid view so they are easy to find and its pretty quick too, since its very basic.

Yup, the 2D Android Gallery is much faster than the HTC gallery.

totally with u on that but like they always say you get what you pay for lol

Although a higher class card might help, i really dont think that is the problem.

If you haven't already found a different gallery, try this:

Also, your rom might be the problem. I would try something different and make sure your clear your cache regularly

The 3D gallery is the fastest one I've used. The HTC one is PAINFULLY slow at loading pics when scrolling through them. The 2D gallery was similar, slightly faster, but still too slow. The 3D gallery is almost instant, shows more pics on screen at a time, and is overall just so much faster and easier to navigate. I absolutely love it. I used it on White Widow 4.5and now on ErisLightningBolt 2.8 (this one didn't come with it, so I had to install the .apk).

Seriously, the 3D gallery is (very surprisingly) the fastest in my experience.

The only reason I'm not using the 3D gallery is because of the rotation bug, it's annoying.

I tried the 3D one, but my pictures would never load, or the thumbnails started acting funny. That's besides the rotation bug. So I went with the old fashioned 2D one, as its a lot faster and reliable.

the rotation bug was fixed in the 3D Nexus Gallery app. Use the link in comment #29

It is the best photo album app out there as far as I can see. Although there is some lag, there isn't nearly as much lag as the stock photo app. and the photos in the 3D app are much better laid out for easy viewing. I haven't had any problem with rotation or grayed thumbnails or with linking it to the camera.
