Hi Everyone,

This is my first Android phone, coming from the Blackberry Bold. I am having trouble syncing all of my contacts from my phone to Google. The only contacts that are syncing are the ones that have a gmail account on them. All of my other phone numbers/contacts are syncing? What am I doing wrong?

Sorry for being a noob to Android.

I have my contacts sorted into groups in google, but on the phone contacts it dumps all of the contacts into the 'google' group. Further annoying is that it doesn't appear to be possible to move contacts OUT of the google group and into the groups that the phone has.

Any idea how to get the phone app to use google's contact groups?

Are you choosing the option to display the correct thing? Go into Contacts, hit the menu key, and select display options. That should show you how your contacts are displayed. I also have mine set to only show contacts with numbers, so email addresses don't get synced

Found some info on this - it looks like if you add your gmail account "normally" it will sync your contacts with your All Contacts list rather than the expected My Contacts. The only way around this that i have found is to add your gmail account via exchange settings (m.google.com) this will sync with the expected My Contacts list as intended by Google. So what i did was add my gmail account normally and set it to not sync contacts / email / cal and went back and added it again via exchange and had that sync everything.
